I prefer push-ups. Unless you need to be able to push more than your body weight, there is basically no need to do bench press. Doing different push-up variations allows you to target different areas of the chest and triceps.

Speed is as a result of 2 things, cadence(leg speed) and stride length. Unfortunately for us our stride length is limited by our leg length, so we can work on cadence. Acceleration is due to power, so for sprinting, you need to have lots of power, and high cadence. Power: Now where you are, and what...

Also look at doing high reps with low weights, at high intensity. This helps tone, burn fat and doesn't bulk you up.

swanso5 is right, and there are other things, you can swim, it not weight bearing, and most people find it pretty therapeutic. Something I have been using with one of clients is water running. He was in an accident and has bad knees. We have a aqua-jogging belt, and he runs in the water. We get grea...

Firstly, watts is a unit of power, and 50 watts is not too much at all, 250watts is what Lance Armstrong would use to clime one of the mountain stages in Le Tour. So going on that, if you are cycling at a very light effort, then use 50, if using light effort, use 100, and so on. These "effort&q...

I think swimming is the best total body workout ever, but doesn't really fit into any of the usual boxes as far as exercise goes. It is cardio, but has resistance. it uses all the bodies energy pathways, plus is partly aerobic, and partly anaerobic, so its a bit of a chameleon. Its great cardio, but...

Doing ab work never gave anyone a six pack! It will only make it look better once its there and visible. Its all in the diet! You need to loose fat to have your abs show, and to help stop the "little look" you need to work on your obliques as they hold the abs in place and therefore give y...

Its vital that you do a cool down and stretch after a workout. Do static stretching doing 3 stretches of 21 sec on each muscle group worked. Then active rest the very next day. Active rest is similar to a cool down in that it is used to get the blood flowing but not to really make you tired, its the...

lol I find the wind also seem to be face no matter what direction I'm riding in. The body is an amazing thing, if you are burning fat, it first takes it off where you need it the least. So we can't burn fat off in just one area, like a lot of people think. They do 100s of sit-ups, but it will never ...

 no problem, I have quite a few French Canadian friends, I'm used to it Your BMR is the amount of energy you body need just to perform its normal function (keeping you alive) as if you don't get out of bed, so in other words it is the absolute minimum calories your body will use in any day. Add...

No problem, Your BMR + calories burned during exercise = approximate calories burned during the day. In your case, it was 1666Cal. Now if you track what food you eat during a day, using the foodtracker on this site, it will tell you how many calories you eat in a day. So as long as you are eating le...

You can always contact me, I love helping people. Interval training is when you warm up, then do a certain time at a high heart rate, then a bit at low heart rate, and repeat it a few times, then cool down. I would let body adapt to training before I start doing weights if I where you. Maybe start i...

lol Ok, the reason your HRM told you your HR was over 200 was more than likely because one of the batteries was flat, its happened to me before, I changed the battery, and didn't have the problem again. Or make sure the chest strap is moist and makes good contact with your chest. You need to calcula...
