Since I assume you like to run - I would focus first on bulking up and then once you built a body to your satisfacion then... you could sculpt, tone, or chisel out yur six pack by running and...

What kind of running workout do you do?

If you're going for looks then it doesn't matter but the smith machine is genrally better for looks since you can squat more weight and since it doesnt involve stabilizers

If you're an athlete - do regualr squats as this training is more natural plus it also works your supporting stabilizer muscles

You need to pick 1 ab exercise and just do 4-5 sets of 8-12 reps instead of the marathon ab workout you're doing now and... I would stick to doing on one "quality" ab exercise like the ab wheel, hanging leg raises, or weighted crunches off a stability ball for 4-5 sets of 8-12 reps done ab...

swanso5, You're absolutely right but I'm taking into account her fitness level is average so I'm pretending she's the average person who isn't used to many high intensity workouts like me and you probably are but... Fo all I know 4x of tae-bo, intervals, or circuit training could be TOO much for her...

There's nothing wrong with working out by doing cardio first thing in the morning for 30-45 minutes by doing tae-bo or some sort of weight loss interval workout and then doing an evening weight workout but only workout in the evening with weights twice a week. if you're referring to the calipers where you pinch 3 areas of your body - I would say they're accurate up to +/- 3-5% but...
