Re: Is 1200 calories too little?

Thanks for the info! We will start out on perhaps around 1600. We work out together too. :D We inspire each other. We have a 15 month old baby girl, so we've invested in jump ropes, dumbbells, eliptical machine, and workout videos. We do everything at home and is working out great.

Hello all, I'm 33 years old, 5'7, 194 pounds (I lost 9 pounds in the last month). I'm happy about the weight loss but I'm also a bit concerned that I'm doing it the right way and not putting body into starvation mode or something. I want to lose the weigh healthfully. Here's a typical day: AM: Coffe...

I'm back...with a positive attitude!

I've been MIA for many months now, dealing with some medical problems, including hypothyroidisim, cervical pre-cancer, anemia, and runner's knees. All have/are being treated currently and outlook is good. I've gained 10 pound weight loss back, but I'm determined to get back on track and lose the wei...

Re: Cardio - Too much?

Add the weights in and restrict cardio to 2-3 times a week with a 30 minute duration. If you are looking to do something like a Total Body weights workout, then try this system if you wish. Day 1. Weights Day 2. Cardio Day 3. Weights Day 4. Day off Day 5. Cardio Day 6. Weights Day 7. Day off This s...

Cardio - Too much?

I've upped cardio to 5x per week (Tuesday through Saturday), one hour each time. I use DVD's (Biggest Loser and Boot Camp Training). I use 3 pound dumbbells for these workouts. goal is to lose weight first, then build muscle when I'm at goal weight. Is doing cardio 5x week ok..or should I be incorpo...

Microwave Food -- Danger??

brother told me that it's bad to use the microwave to heat/cook food because it breaks down molecules and the end result is loss of protein and nutrients in foods. It also supposedly adds cancer causing carcinogens. As far as container, I usually use glass to heat up food or BPA free plastic. Anyon...

Re: Dieting with Thyroid Disease

Re: Dieting with Thyroid Disease

Firstly, I want to tell you that you should be proud of telling people that. I know it can't be easy and it must be a difficult thing to speak about, but I really admire you for speaking about your problem and taking greater steps to overcome it. You are in a hard place, but don't be down about tha...

Re: Pushups are Impossible !

Thanks for the great advice! I started using knuckles, as well as doing some modified push ups with knees bent and this has helped tremendously. I feel like wrists feel better each time. :)

Workout Cool Down

I just started to work out again in the last two months after having little one. I feel SO great after working out...I'm full of energy. I workout 3-4 a week (40 minutes of muscle training, followed by 30 minutes of aerobic exercise). The only time I can work out during the week is after baby is put...

Caffeine Consumption

I'm a new mom with a busy schedule. I don't get much sleep so when I get up for work I have two cups of coffee in the morning and sometimes another cup mid-afternoon after lunch.

I'm trying to lose weight and wondering if the caffeine can affect metabolism, or fitness goals overall?

Thanks!

Pushups are Impossible !

I know that pushups are great for strengthening your upper body BUT I have very weak wrists and they hurt and shake when I try them. I think it's because I type a lot at work and have to wear a wrist brace to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome. (I get tendonitis quite often.) Is it possible that I just ne...
