New Here (and pics... obviously!)

Post by GetFit09 »

Hello! I just signed up here and would love some feedback. I used to be a dancer, super fit and this last 2 years(ish) I got LAZY and gained weight - ok, not really gained weight - weights pretty much the same. I lost muscle... and want it back! BUT I got a membership at the gym and am looking to get body back.

goal is to look like Jelena Abbou (I know - totally hot, right?)

Currently I'm just doing cardio (20 min jogging, 15 min stairmaster) because I don't want to do weights incorrectly and hurt myself! Im meeting with a trainer tomorrow - but I'm not 100% sure if I trust trainers...

Im working on diet. biggest problem is I don't like food - ok, I don't like food that isn't loaded with sodium and sugar.... Im having problems eating breakfast and protein.... working on it.

OK, enough with the ramblings... here are pics - any advise/feedback/criticism/whatever appreciated.

5'7" 124# 25% (not kidding)

Diet goes hand in hand with a good exercise program. You need to fuel your body with the right kinds of foods and by eating 6 small meals a day 3-4 hours apart.
Lean meats like skinless chicken breast, turkey breast, lean cuts of beef and pork, eggs, legumes, fresh green veggies and salads, natural peanut butter or almond butter, salads, sweet potatoes, brown rice, unsalted nuts, and lots of H2O. Protein shake post workout. Try to avoid alcohol, butters, margarines, cookies, cakes, sugars. Generally, if you start to wean yourself from the sugars and salt, your body will eventually lose the craving for it. It will take time as your palate become accustomed to using other things to flavor your food. I use Mrs. Dash, fresh lemon and lime juices, and vinegars.

As far as the trainer goes, get references and call former clients to see what their expectations were and if they were satisfied with the trainer. Be realistic about results and specific to your trainer about what your goals are. Good luck and keep us posted!
