Interval Training On Weight Lifting Days or Non?

Post by com34x »

Should I do Interval Training after Strength training, or is it better to do on non strength training days?

Goal is lower body fat.

Order of preferance.

1. Doing Cardio after a weights day.

2. Doing Cardio several hours after a weights session.

3. Doing Cardio after a weights session.

4. Doing Cardio before a weights session.

Those are listed from most beneficial to least beneficial. I should stress number 4 is still pretty good, but it is almost definitely not as beneficial as the others ranked above it.

for me, it is better to do cardio before weights... or in other day.. but after the wieghts session is a bit too much for me... but each one is different, listen to your body.. it will tell u what u should do... i do this and it is amazing...

The very best thing is to do them on separate days. The next best thing is to do cardio a few hours after weights. Don't do cardio before weights. It's much less beneficial.

Like TrainMiss says, listen to your body. I prefer cardio before weights and energy level is fine. I have tried the reverse for several sessions and body just seems to be out of rhythm when I lift first. I think the most benefit comes from doing something rather than nothing or following a routine that is supposed to be "better" for you when it doesn't make you feel good.

It's like saying it's better to work out in the afternoon rather than in the morning or vice versa. Whatever gets your blood pumping, do it.
