New/change new goal(s)

Post by meaok77 »

I decided to change weight goal. In the long run goal is to hit 130 (someday), but for now I decided to set smaller, obtainable goals (not that 130 is unobtainable). So for now, goal is to get to 170, starting weight when I got pregnant.

second goal is a cardio goal. Every day, or every other day weather premitting, I take daughter on a 1-2 mile walk around our neighborhood. I want to someday get back to being able to jog 1-3 miles (when I met bf, baby's daddy, I jogged 4-5 days a week and was able to jog 1.5 miles before I had baby). Obviously I know, from already trying, I cannot job the full 1 mile mark. That is first long term goal. Short term is to be able to job 1/2 mile without stopping. bf jogs as well and was able to do 3 miles when we met, but he has fallen off track and can only do the 1 mile. He is really supportive of me and goal. If we go together he uges me to keep going, and I do but I've yet to hit that 1/2 mark jogging.

I told him recently I need new sneakers if I'm going to start jogging again. I have running shoes that I bought when I was pregnant, they supported feet better, but they are finally starting to wear out. The inside soles are slipping and there is not "shock absorbancy" to them anymore. They are still go sneaker for wearing while running errands in the car, but not for jogging. He agreed to get us (both of us need new sneakers) new sneakers made for running on his next paycheck. Can't wait, ready to start goal!!! Until then...I'll keep walking it.

I really hope this works out for you. You're such a lovely, lovely Lady and you deserve more success for your efforts. Be proud of your continued progress and for not giving up or thinking you're second best and settling for it.

No 130lbs is not an unnatainable long-term target, so don't worry about that. I'm sure with your continued wiinning mentality, that stays strong pretty much most of the time, you'll be able to achieve what you want.

Good luck with it, because you're just the sort of person who deserve happiness and has the right to feel good enough and special.

I'm sure you'll be just fine and this community will support you every step of the way and beyond.

We're here for you, becasue you matter to us and always will do :).

GOOD LUCK again and best wishes.

Short-term, long-term, both matter.

Some people will want to improve stamina, or lose some weight, but ultimately it's not over when it's over, because that's not your life, that's a small part of it and the maintenance of wellbeing goes on until, (putting it politely), you don't.

Goal setting can for many be productive, as long as it's not over ambition, that leads to nigh on impossible targets, causing dissapointment, at eitherr several stages on the way or even just near the timeframes end.

Sometimes splitting a goal into bitesized chunks, can make what someone is doing easier to manage and more rewarding, because you can hit small milestones quicker than bigger ones, so if you're doing things right, it shouldn't take that long to get a really good positive to happen.

Achieved running 1/2 mile last night via intervals, 10 seconds of walking, 50 seconds of running. I honestly thought, when bf and I stopped, that I could've gone further. The beginning was hard, but something miraculous seemed to happen. As we reached the 1/2 mile mark in our neighborhood, it seemed to get easier to run, thus I started running faster. Downside was that I started coughing like I had just smoked a cigarette for the first time (bad analogy I know, but I used to smoke (quite almost 2 years ago) and I remember the feeling in chest when I smoked first cigarette). He was concerned and had me stop, we walked the rest of the way which was only about 10 minutes. We also forgot to bring water with us. Legs are very sore today, and I still have exercises I have to do today.

EDIT: Whoa...I just mapped out our route that we ran on google maps and it turns out it was actually ONE mile from where we started to where we stopped. Even happier now!

That's awesome that you are setting a goal for yourself! I am currently doing the same thing. I'm looking to start biking and was having a few problems creating a goal. I found some really good information on how to create a goal that I can achieve at the following website http://stickwithitexerciseandnutrition.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I want to start biking too, especially during the summer time. bf has a bike he got this past fall, and we're going to look for a good bike for me this spring/summer.
