todays workout:

2.5 mile treadmill interval run
right hammie was trying to get an attitude with me....every time I tried to go faster than 7.0 mph it was tightening up, so I had to slow it down.
didn't want to push it too hard today - I have a 7 miler scheduled for tomorrow a.m. running with some friends that are training for the same race as I am. :D

stretched leg muscles, and used foam roller on hamstring and lower back of thigh muscle (just above the knee joint), that seems to be where the pain is centered.
No time for an injury now.....just signed up officially for the race I'm training so hard for. No turning back now!! :D

Lynne - blood pressure has always been lowish, 100-115 over 50-70. Once when I went to the doc they took pulse and it was 42 - they said, "Are you a runner?" So, it makes sense that your BP is low, you ARE a runner...they say you will live a very long life! That's what they told me anyway :)

oh I hope so! :D

Todays workout:

7.5 mile road run :D :D :D

7 a.m. met up with some fellow running friends and started out together, then spaced out in our own paces.
I ran most of the run solo, with NO music. But it really wasn't that bad, just got into the zone and listened to the rhythm of steps and breathing - lost in own thoughts. Ran out along a country highway, rolling hills beautiful trees, so pretty. It was awesome just being out there - living the moment. Weather was stellar, in the high 30's, not a cloud in the sky. Perfect.

Felt great.

Great job on the run! What day is your half marathon on? Sounds like you kind of liking those longer distances.

There is a certain serenity in those longer runs - not focused on speed, or time, just putting one foot in front of the other. There comes a point in those longer runs when I reach a place of peace, deep in thought, tuned into body and it's rhythms.
There were times this morning when I was all alone running down the highway in the early dawn, I was overcome by the beauty of the brand new morning - the sun breaking the tree horizon, the long rolling hills ahead of me - it made me SO appreciate of health and the fact that I am able to be out there doing what I love doing. I am blessed.
I better stop now...I'm starting to sound too much like a Hallmark card.

new workout program doesn't really have space for cardiovascular work, though I already asked about a couple of runs per week, because I'm ...ADDICTED..I can not tell a lie..I hear you. Spring is here, so soon outdoor running..YES !

here is a pic I took this a.m. as I was running down the highway - breathtaking. That was at about mile 5 of 7.5 mile run.

Pretty, it looks rural too. It also looks a lot more green than i thought it would be where you live. Hearing you talk about the heat, i guess i just pictured it different. Sounds like a nice morning, very pretty! :)

I wish I could run :( Maybe after I lose a few more lbs I can attempt it - but I don't think legs and respiratory system can handle it. I'm not being negative, just a reality check. You make it sounds so refreshing - definitely an adrenaline kick :)

It is on the outskirts of town, but most of our area is rural or "out in the sticks" as we like to call it. There are lots of tall pine trees which are evergreens, where I live - no tumbleweeds or cactus. But it does get humid and mind numbing hot in the summer, which begins in April and lasts through October usually. :x

todays meals so far:

breakfast: oatmeal
lunch: grilled chicken breast with a slice of deli ham wrapped around it with 1 LF mozz. cheese stick shredded, laid in between the ham & chicken. sliced avocado on top (1/2 avocado) - yummy! needed some salsa tho' to give it some kick.
snack: almonds & pistachios (probably about 10)

Thanks for the suggestions Bonnie. :D

Pulled myself out of lazy "just want to sit on the couch" mood and got down on the floor and did a workout.

30 Toe touches
50 jumping jacks

1 x 1 min. supine bridge
2 x 25 crunches
2 x 30 mountain climbers
1 x 30 Glute lift > squeeze < supine bridge
2 x 12 Wide pushups
2 x 12 rev. crunches
2 x 10 Diamond pushups - really out of practice on these & was careful with the elbow (so far, so good :D )
2 x 1 min. front planks

have a 5 miler planned for tomorrow, so didn't want to do too much legs.

There's not a lazy bone in your body! :) Good for you! I know how hard it is to get going at night! Especially knowing you'll be running a 5 miler tomorrow morning! Before work???? You go girl!
