Re: Staying Motivated
I am pro-community center.I never had the money to even think of attending one of those other gyms.I actually don't like POSERS which those gyms are full of, or used to be ? Each morning I have people to say " good morning " too, very pleasant experience, hope yours will be the same

Re: Staying Motivated
They got signiture by having me sign an electronic signature pad. I was signing it because you have to sign for anything over 50$ on a card, What I was purchasing was 1 mo. of training = 120$. I was never told about a contract, so i could not ask for a copy of something i didn't know existed.
Bank seems really on side. They are a good bank and hopefully the dispute stick and Also I would like to add that I NEVER GAVE THEM ACCOUNT INFORMATION. They guy who signed me up with La fitness used his own (INACTIVE) credit card. thus they have no way of charging me anything.
So really i'm in the clear. All i want is to be released from the contract so that it doesn't go on credit.
It's insane that they can keep charging you for something you are not using. Unbelievable. You should be allowed to pay for a trainer as you need one. We don't pay rent for houses we don't live in. At least most of us don't.

Re: Staying Motivated
I'd like to thank you for continuing to stick with us, as a source of motivation, support and encouragement.
You are someone that makes a difference to us, with your positive efforts and willingness to continue for your own good.
We will always be more than happy and willing to support, encourage and stick by you, because apart from people that develop a negative attitude to others, we never abandon or turn away from an individual, nor do we intentionally as a whole, ignore people either.
I know you won't quit, because you and your daughter have too much to lose from you quitting and I don't think you're like that, I think you're becoming increasingly more proactive regards your own wellfare.
So hopefully this situation resolves itself quickly. GOOD LUCK and keep trying to make the most of you okay. You're a real diamond and often a little ray of sunshine round here and you're a superb part of our community.

Re: Staying Motivated
Hey Ladies and Gentleman, I am back from Camping week. Not sure I lost any weight, in fact I think I gained some weight. But whatever.
New Goal is to lose 70lbs. By July 2011. I CAN DO THIS. With some support and good information, eating right, and working out I can make this happen for myself.
Here is a picture of me this week.

Thats really just a good pic of me, the others ones I have make me pretty sad but whatever. this is taken at Deception Pass in WA.
I received a receipt of cancellation of membership and contract from LA Fitness. I have to double check to make sure that means what I think that means. Once I get a refund I will join the community Center Gym. This time off knee has helped it heal a lot. Feels better and it hasn't gotten swollen in a few days. goal is to start working out again Tuesday. So workout days will be Tues. Thurs. Sat. for weight training, and Cardio everyday.
I am motivated and pushing forward.

You look awesome in your picture! I'm glad your knee is feeling better.

Re: Staying Motivated
YES!!! You CAN do this.
You certainly don't look as bad in opinion as you think you do.
Be proud of what you have tried to achieve and are willing to try and do

Re: Staying Motivated
lol, the Gin and Tonics were back at the campsite, it wasn't till Thurs evening that I started to drink beers. I am officially taking it easy on the alcohol. I am 240lbs. definitely not where I thought I would be. Tomorrow I am starting a depression study. They perform clinical trials for drug companies. Until I can get a real job I am doing this to make a little extra cash. Plus it may help me with any mental blocks I seem to be having.
Personally I think the depression is brought on by environment and drinking. Also Monday I am going to take myself to the community center and get Gym Pass.
Busy busy busy...
Here is a another photo from this weekend just for Funzies and interest:

Re: Staying Motivated
You might want to look up something called St Johns Wort and see if that is any use. It's a herb used to treat depression. Though it is not good to use anti-depressants whilst on it. I know you don't use those, or at least I don't think so, but I say this in respect of the trial you're on, incase it may be contraindicated with what you're going to be given.
Alcohol could be another contraindication with the medicine, possibly even Caffeine and Grapefruit / Grapefruit juice.
Also Vitamin B8, (Inositol), has been shown to be reasonably good regarding Depression and OCD effects, so a good diet with things like Mushrooms, Meat, Parsley, Whole-grains, etc etc, might help.
Or possibly consider a B complex once a day.
I assume this study you're on might be a double blind placebo trial, where you get given something and don't know if it's the medicine or the placebo.
I'm proud of you and I want you to keep being positive and keep looking forward okay

Re: Staying Motivated
I have no idea why people are so afraid of depression or of being diagnosed with it.Seriously I have had depression since I was a little kid & spent 20 + years wondering why I was not normal. Then spent the next 15 years on trial or error antidepressants. They finally found the correct one in 1998 & since then I have had a new life.I used to drink & party it DEFINITELY contributes to depression, no maybe about it.Some people are just born without the capability to make the correct levels of seritonin , its NOTHING to be embarrassed about, it is what it is.You will not have a complete life until you can admit it to yourself, take something to correct it & move on.Provided a qualified physician diagnoses you.Yes environment plays a huge role, positive thinking etc.

Re: Staying Motivated
You rock so hard Bonnie, I really enjoy your posts. Huge boost for me to get them.
I will not be embarrassed for trying to make myself happier. I think how you put it was perfect. So the next person who asks me why i'm taking drugs to be happier I'll just say exactly that. Today I am going to call a lady about a job, get ready to leave here and go to appointment. I'll let you all know what happens.
Here is a Picture of me Many years ago just for funzies: I am the one on the right, The girl to left is best friend/sister/cousin She and I have always struggled with weight. Love her.

Fabulous picture ! & good luck with the job

Re: Staying Motivated
I'm confused about the picture as there's only one person in it, os I'm not entirely sure who it is.
Not to worry
.
Things that can incrase Seratonin are protein, because things like Glutamine, Phenylalanine and Tryptophan exert Hypothalamic effects on such hormones.
Also something called 5-HTP which manipulates Seratonin, Hypocretin, Dopamine, Norepinephrine and those sorts of hormones that can affect mood.
Thoguh things like Tryptophan and Glutamine can be bought supplementally.
Though supplements sometimes can interfere with medications, (I.E. St Johns Wort in relation to Anti-depressants, as described previously), so investing in then may be okay, providing the considered one(s), will not block or clash with the medicines "mechanism of action".

Re: Staying Motivated
shrink actually uses Tryptophan to boost anti depressants, though it still would be advised to check with your doctor.

Re: Staying Motivated
They did not start me on any drugs yet. Odd, I sort of think they forgot, going to call tomorrow and make sure. I have to go back in 10 days. I have to fast that morning.
I did NOT go to the gym today like I should have. Although I did say I was going to start on Tuesdays so. yeah. I will do it tomorrow. PROMISE!!! It might have to wait till later in the afternoon but that is fine. the only real downside to the community center gym is not having any daycare.
here is another pic for fun: Me with Blue Hair

Re: Staying Motivated
Good thing you're not taking any Anti-deopressants, because I'm beginning to think you're better off without them.
Certainly drinking is having some effect on your mood, but I think exploring things like Tryptophan, Glutamine, 5-HTP, ST Johns, Wort etc etc, woulkd be ba tter bet, than potentially becoming hooked on A D's.
From past experience of you on here, I don't think you're Bi-polar, (formally Manic Depressive), not do I think you're someone that would go for weeks maybe months feeling like you've nothing good in your life.
When you look at the fact you've got a loving guy and a little sweetie in your life, you have reason to smile and it is a great smile too. It would be all too easy to plonk you on A-D's like Paxil, Phentermine, Wellbutrin and other such things, just because it could also be a doctors agenda. Free samples from Drug companies and other freebies like pens and jotter pads, encouraging them to prescribe more, of their products or a particular product.
It's been known and done by some GP's. Particularly any with a dislike of alternatives. I'm not one of these alternative / gaia medicine versus mainstream people, that acts like mainstream people are all profiteering scheisters and alternative people are caring saintly folk, (I think Homeopathy is pretty mediocre), I'm someone who believes good medicine is good medicine, whoever makes it.
If you're not on A-D's I'd suggest not doing that, when there are other things you might be better of trying. A D's are not eays by all accounts to get off, the side effects from withdrawal are pretty freaky and those who have done it, have been scaling down doses on a weekly / fortnightly basis, to ween the body of the ingredients.
After all, these things are pretty potent.
The main thing is to keep believing in yourself and the fact that your daughter deserves a good healthy rolemodel of a Mother and I know you want to give her the best you can rasonably be expected to, becasue you ARE a good Mother
.
Most of all though do this, because you don't want her to become someone that could be late 30's and living without you in her life, when that should be something she should have to face when she's over 65.
You CAN do this and we all believe in you
