Well, about mid way through them I wasn't too thrilled - abs were on fire! But I toughed it out and completed the 25, but I was definitely impressed with how much harder they worked abs than a standard crunch.

Indeed they do! Split them in two perhaps, 2x13 with a short break in between?

Thanks Will!! midsection has been one of most troublesome spots to thin down, so I am excited to see some change there - finally!! I guess all those planks are paying off.
BTW - the shorts I'm wearing in profile pic - can't wear them anymore - too loose!! :D :D
And another thing I noticed this a.m. while on run - arm band I wear on left bicep, that holds phone, Ipod, and mace was starting to slip down arm - :P So hopefully some inches beginning to budge there as well. Fingers crossed!

Today, at work while I was making type changes to a local restaurant's menu - I noticed one of their items...Fried Bread
Image
Gag! That looks so gross. And we wonder what is causing Americans to get fat! geez.
The sad thing is I used to eat these at a Chinese restaurant - except the one I ate were rolled in sugar.
"S'cuse me waiter...I'll have the heart attack special - with a side of diabetes." :?
I'm so glad I changed food choices, and this kind of stuff is no longer appealing to me.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to temp or tease anyone with the pic of fried bread. I guess when i saw it, it just reminded me of when I used to deepfry everything...fries, chicken, shrimp, fish, hushpuppies...and i would have these containers of used grease in kitchen to reuse over and over....it just kind of turns stomach now when i think about it. That was just how i was raised. I never even had a broiled piece of fish or shrimp until I was an adult.
I still have issues...Lord knows I get weak in the knees at the sight of choc. cake or brownies, or either one of those with a big scoop of ice cream topped of with choc. syrup and whip cream....maybe a cherrie.....ohhhhhh...SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!! AAAAKKK! must....think....of....healthy.....things....
Imagethere that's better.. :P s'cuse me while I go gnaw on a carrot or something...

I agree amatlack, it does take time, though last month I caught the smell of chocolate muffins or somethin in the air outside the grocery store ..Guess the aroma of the bakery never leaves us, but the need to eat the stuff does. I was in the bread section to buy bread for son & was wondering why it felt so odd, till it occurred to me Id not bought bread in a long time.

To me, Fried Bread happens in a frying pan with some Butter perhaps. Though I've never eaten Fried Bread.

That stuff there looked absolutely vomitous. It's unbelievable that some restaurants get away, with that level of culinary bastardisation. I mean sure a McDonalds hamburger with the sludge removed, isn't a heinous crime, but that deserves a health and safety warning at least.

Very, very poor :(.

Plus you know it's pretty darn bad when I use Mr Sulky face. Not a common modus operandi for me when posting

No running today...I have a 5K race Saturday a.m., but I will do an upper body resistance band workout and some core work this afternoon.
No weigh in this a.m. - I always weigh after I run, and since I didn't run, I was afraid to weigh. I know it doesn't make much difference and I should not rely on run to magically make me lose more weight, but I just was too afraid to not see results that I decided to wait until next Friday. :?
I did good on food this week, not exceeding calorie limit, in fact being under it by several hundred calories most days. But 1 day this week (for lack of planning and waiting until I was too tired to think) I ate a PB&J sandwich for dinner. And if that wasn't bad enough - I ate chips with it!! I have been off of chips for a while - they are a real temptation for me, but I bought some for husbands lunches, and so....you know how that goes. Last night I ate 2 slices of deli turkey and LF cheese slice rolled up in a lettuce leafs and again with the chips. ugh!
While I was running yesterday morning, I had a serious conversation with myself...I realized that for some reason, despite best intentions, I still willfully make bad choices that hinder weight loss goal. No one to blame but me. The tricky part about losing weight is not the actual physical work being done, but it is such a mental mindset that has to be there - everyday. I am great at doling out sage advice and tips to others, but feel guilty if I don't live up to what I'm telling others to do.
What Brent said the other day has really stuck with me...something like "until you get your head right, your body cannot and will not follow"...wow...he is so right. But how to do that? How does a person help themselves overcome years of self defeat and failure? The constant yo-yo of doing really good - everything is in tune - mind and body - then you start to slip, but the desire is still there, but you start to falter. I really want to learn, once and for all, how to keep it all in line all the time, so that I don't have to worry about losing weight, then gaining it back - I want off the roller coaster!!
Does anybody understand what I mean, or am I just crazy.

I think we all understand what you mean, Lynne! Honestly, I don't think it is reasonable to expect to eat 100% healthy 100% of the time. You have to give yourself a little room for this kind of stuff. Life isn't perfect and everybody strays from their healthy eating once in a while. The important part is that 99% of the time you are keeping yourself on track! Don't beat yourself up for eating a PB&J every once in a while, or a few chips here and there. That may be what keeps you on track. I know personally, if I didn't allow myself a "cheat" food every once in a while, I would go absolutely postal :x So I have learned to allow myself just a little bit here and there to keep me sane.

I think you are doing an AMAZING job. You inspire everyone on this board with your hard work and dedication. Don't let yourself get down about the little things - you already have your mind in the right place. Just don't let those cheats become everyday things and you are going to be just fine!

Hang in there, you are an amazing woman and don't you ever forget that :D

son keeps cans of pringles in the house & I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE chips, bah on sweet stuff, but chips, well they r just packed with flavour.Until I cut out the carbs, I used to find myself taking one or two of his chips here & there.I have finally managed to avoid them, I 'd like to say its because of health I avoid them, that would be partially right, also its because I love body the way it is & never wanna go back to the way it was, sounds a bit shallow, but I am honest :) Got to admit I m having a hard time wrapping head around the PB & J sandwich with chips tho.. that sounds nasty, unless maybe they r plain chips. thoughts on your dilema, dont have these temptations in your house.Just a question but if you are set on eating healthy, why on earth is your husband eating chips ? ..Fortunate for me, I am alone in eating habits & need not consider anyones elses needs, not trying to be intrusive.Hope you succeed with these eating demons :)
