You need to take a lot of credit for that.

Not least because it doesn't matter what someone says, you need to give as much to the process as you're able. You need to push yourself with the individual, and be steadfast on things like food, when you're not there, as nobody can force you to eat a certain way.

You still to me are quite an amazing Lady. Your looks hide your age. Even when I look at that photo of you and your Son, you could so easily be an older sibling, if I didn't know your age.

You have so much to be proud of, for how you look and how you work for it because it is truly honestly earned results, not with stupid products or treatments or anything like that, but solid hard work, to look as good as you do and the more earnest the results, the more you can be proud of yourself.

You're doing brilliantly, so keep up the hard work and WELL DONE :).

However in that Australian heat, it trickled all but half a centimetre, before finally evaporating

The main thing is, you have changed for the better and you look like a beautiful, healthy, "youthfully mature" Lady and that's all you can ask for.

Be proud and most important of all, be YOU!! From where I'm sitting, that's the most valuable thing about you and I'm sure your family knows that only too well :).

I think some of the previous comments need recycling

Brenty. Well I could make an aside about some of your "ahem" feminine charms, but I'm just too reserved and whole-some to be so obvious.

Swanso. I share Brenty's concerns and also being a whole-some guy myself, I chose to exercise a little caution as well, because I'm practicing marital behaviour, before the big day

Wow, this thread ever dies!!! LOL. Thank you for your praise. It is soooo nice to get positive feedback from fit peers here! :D Soooo yes, Happy, parts are real. I am not offended by the question as it comes up now and then  . Anyway, as Nokie sooo sweetly said I have been working very hard now for about 8 months. I love looking at progress pics because sometimes I can hardly believe it myself! Just to let you guys know what I am doing as I don't post a lot and don't keep a journal. I am terrible at writing things down!!! Anyway...I am training 3x per week full body with a trainer in early a.m.. We also do kick-boxing one day and intervals on treadmill 2x per week. I throw in some steady rate cardio on elip a few times per week also and I take a dancing class one night per week (totally 16 yr old daughter's thing! She insisted I do this with her. Is fun and quite hilarious  ). I TRY to follow what I have learned here as far as eating goes. 5-6 small meals per day. Figuring macros is totally not thing either so I just kinda eye everthing up. Ok, so I have a little more work to do and I am really kicking things up after a little involuntary break due to snow and kids off and stuff. Any suggestions?? Still some improvement needed in the lower abs section. Ugh! Oh, I have a question..... % is somewhere around mid 30s  . Could this be partly attributed to fatty breast tissue?? The girls have shrunk some but are still pretty ample considering small frame and weight which is 113 lbs . I have a bit of fat on hips and of course some left on lower but mid 30 range is borderline obese!!!! I am confused! Anyway, thank you sooo much for the compliments and your replies! :D

I get measured on a scale. I know they are not really accurate but even with a margin of error would still be high. I am hoping I can get it down to maybe 20% or so. Last time I got measured was after x-mas and next weigh and measure is on Monday. Wish me luck! These last few pockets of fat are really sticking to me but I will not give up. I am working now on lower abs and would like to see more defintion in arms. Had a nice workout this morning but I find I am not as sore as I used to be. Does this mean I have to work harder? I told trainer and he said it's because I am getting stronger. I really love the exercises. Lots of step-ups, lunges and squat variations combined with upper body workouts. legs are pure muscle now! :D . Sooooo, I really want to get body fat down and get cut. I am wondering if this is a realistic goal because of age (going on 45). I can't help it, though. When I start something I have to go all the way!! Maybe I should start a food journal. That may be where the problems lie. Ugh!

You are already proving that it is absolutely a realistic goal. Age is not a factor, in opinion. You look awesome and prove that women at any age can take control of their bodies and become strong, fit and beautiful. :D Hard work and perseverance with a positive attitude is what it takes, and you definitely have that!
Keep representing us 40+ gals, it gives us all inspiration!! :D :D

Thank you, ladies. I am sooo happy I can inspire others as you do me!! As you all know by experience is a lot of hard work. The reason I mention the age thing is because a lot of things happen hormonally for us girls about this time with such lovely changes in peri-menopause (yikes). I have read about it online and one of the unfortunate effects is weight gain especially around the middle. Last year I quickly gained 25 lbs and I think it was attributed to these changes as I have never had an issue with weight before. I was just wondering if the lower fat is something I will just have to live with or is it possible to counter it with diet and exercise or even get flat! I think it will be a constant battle since it seems if I stray from diet just a little bit it comes back almost immediately. Sooo weird but hormones are a powerful thing!!! Any thoughts, ladies???
