I would personally not recommend the "one-legged" style. I would stick with the basic barbell deadlift which is amazing for working the overall body. Its one of the core exercises for adding mass to the quads, hamstrings and also works your back, arms and shoulders. Its truly a great movement. You can review the barbell deadift here:

Best of luck to you!

I feel its just too stressful on your knee using the one-legged method. The last thing you want is to blow out your ACL and be sidelined for months :(

Stick with the basic barbell deadlift and you will build some quality muscle mass and your strength will soar!

Best of luck to you!

Actually, single leg work is very benficial for strength in all lower body joints (ankel, knee hip). It is not a dangerous exercise, in fact--the 2 legged version can be more risky becasue people tend to put tyoo much weight on teh bar to stroke teh ego. The single leg version is very humbling and strengthens the hip rotators, gluteus, and works the leg functionally. Go for it!

I agree with Standapart. As long as you do the one legged style correctly, you can feel your hamstrings working harder than with the two legged. I also agree that the two legged can be harder on the back. Dead lifts are tough, they need to be done correctly or trouble can ensue.

1 legged is also good as your grip doesn't run out before your muscles but caution and technique are the key
