I have 30% body fat, and I weight 110 KG.
I recently (3-4 months) started going to the gym and I'm satisfied about progress there. goal is to decrease body fat and grow bigger muscles ( seems like every ones goal =) ! )
The problem that in country whey protien powder is all imported and not as cheap as it might be in other places, a KG of whey protein cost up to 60 USD which is not affordable to me.
Recently I found in the market some locally produced powder as in the package, they claim it is for " gaining weight" which is exactly the opposite of what I want, but when I read the nutrition contents, they are as follows:
for each 100 gm:
protein: 19.5 gm
Sodium : 47 mg
carbohydrate :70 gm
Fat: 1 gm
it is basically contains sucrose, whey milk, sodium casianate ..and some vitamins and minerals.
Do you think this can be good for a post workout drink? Will it make weight increase?
I think it can be a good replacement for the expensive whey powder but the word " gaining weight" in the package annoys me.. what do you think?
and how much should I take after workout..100 gm?
If it can not be a replacement, what do you think should I eat/drink after workout that can do as whey protein? taking in mind that im trying to lose weight so should be no fat and least carbs.
Thanks in advance
can it be a replacement for the whey protein

First time I bought protein powder I also went to a local store and paid stupid amounts. Looking around the internet I found this product:
http://www.ukcheapsupplements.co.uk/en/ ... n-5kg.html
Very cheap, tastes great. I paid nearly as much as that for 1kg here in Norway. If that particular site can't send to your country, just try a google search for another store.

Re: can it be a replacement for the whey protein
Forget it dude. It's got 19.5g Protein and 70g Carbs per scoop. The protein is about 10g too light, and the Carbs are excessive. You don't need anything above 40g really, 50g max with the Carbs.
You can easily just have the Egg Whites or Fat free Milk afterwards. Personally I'd favour the Milk, because the Lactose will help spike Insulin to assist protein synthesis.
Otherwise have things like Ham sandwhich, possibly something like a Chicken Salad, Fat Free Yoghurt perhaps, though obviously not those little pot sized ones, as they're a bit low calorie for the job in hand.
Those might be options if you want something solid.

That's great, I would go for the milk..
how much fat free milk should I drink ? considering weight is 110KG.
How about a shake of egg white ( although I dont know how to separate it from the yolk) , milk and vanilla or cinnamon.. something to mask the egg taste..will this be of more benefit than the milk or egg white alone?
Thanks.

Re: can it be a replacement for the whey protein
fine, but still how many egg whites should I take?
Re: can it be a replacement for the whey protein
thats great to know, so the whole fat comes from the yolk..
thank you
thank you

Re: can it be a replacement for the whey protein
If you're bothered by Egg Yolks, have Omega Eggs, (Chickens fed some Flax), as normal Eggs have roughly 60 / 40, LDL / HDL cholesterol.
Some say such Cholesterol has little impact on Blood Cholesterol, but if concerned limit to one Yolk a day, or use Omega Eggs. Eggs are still good because Fat soluable Vitamins, Protein and Lutein exists in the Yolks, which are good for you.

Carbs are OK after your training but that's a pretty high carb to protein ration.
Are you sure you can't find affordable whey where you live? I can buy whey in the Philippines. It is more expensive than the States, but I'm still able to keep cost in check by buying in bulk (Optimum is a good brand since they sell 10lb bags).

Your link is broken man, what is the powder you are using? I'm not really in to that kind of thing, but I would like to compare the product to the stuff by boyfriend has been buying at GNC for the past couple of years which is this wheybolic:
http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?pr ... 87.2108294
I sometimes feel like he may be paying a bit too much, but he is also very satisfied with the product. Would love some insight from you other guys on here, I can't get the truth out of boyfriend he is a bit selfish when it comes to his supplements and rituals.
Re: can it be a replacement for the whey protein
I can tell what that is by the link. I used it for a while many moons ago.
It's Nutrisport 90+, but from memory it was and probably still is a Carb free one.
There's also a Vegan one, called unsuprisingly Protein 90+ Vegan, with Vegetable Proteins in it.
