Kickboxing and Creatine

Post by daswiss14 »

Hi,

I have taken creatine in the past as part of all in 1 shakes etc. Currently Im not taking any. Im now about to transition to creating own shakes using myprotein.co.uk, very good very cheap... im sure it or a similar site exists in US too? I am a kickboxer and am weighing up the pros and cons of taking creatine...

Pros: Good for pushing weights harder for longer, good for short burst power movements (cant remember if this is true but im sure I read sprinters take it for example??)?

Cons: Water retension, potentially slow me down?

Help, I think im confusing myself...

Cheers

Most Creatines cause Water retention, except for CEE, supposedly. It will increase Power and also have some effect on energy, becasue it helps convert ATP the energy in muscles to ADP, which means you get a useable moleclue of Phosphorous, but realistically, bigger people with more bulk, will get better results from it, so potentially could people with more fast twitch muscle fibre adaption, like boxers and martial atists, who train and fight regularly in a fast twitch way, as opposed to people who do about 40-60 minutes of lifting 3-5 times a week.

It will have some effect, but if you use it, don't expect it to necessarily be a really tangible effect as it might not be that good.

The site you're talking about is Trueprotein, which is the American version of Myprotein. However Trueprotein is not as broad with it's range of ingredients, well not last time I looked.
