How do I specifically strengthen hands?

Post by tj6968 »

I am looking for some exercises or equipment that specifically make smy hands stronger, and more flexible. Something easy to do, and not take up much space would be nice also... maybe even something I could do at a desk or just sitting watching tv. Thank You

Try using a sponge ball and just squeeze it. A simple and practical solution to your query.

Tennis. uncle had the strongest grip of anyone I ever knew. He got it from playing tennis.

Grabbing a baseball bat with one hand and waving it about will approximate the same, but tennis is more fun.

When I used to rock climb I did finger tip pushups. And finger tip pull ups. These are pretty advanced exercises however.

If you have access to a barbell, then sit down and rest your forearms on your thighs and with your palms up hold the barbell. Allow the bar to roll out to your finger tips and then roll it back in and grip it as you do and do a wrist curl in the finale.

Try grabbing two smooth outside barbell plates and using both hands, but with friction as your only gripping point, lift the plates from the floor to your chin, standing erect as you finish the lift. I used to do this with two 45 pounders. It is hard to find smooth outside plates anymore however.

I've used exercise putty for awhile to help strengthen hands. You can just sit at your desk or at home and it will strengthen your hands. I got mine from exerflexputty.com and it has been great so far. It isn't the most advanced or strenuous exercise, but it will definitely help to increase strength. Give it a try.
