??what can i do to improve workout routine?
i have 2 questions i would like some assistance on please.
1)I work out 6days a week.3time times a week i go jogging for an hour. when i get back home i do some exercises with 2dumbells(3kg) each. The other 3days i do hill or speed repeats for 30min.when i get back home i do exercises with out the weights.
1)am i doing enough strength training?though the weight is stubborn i am seeing a difference in legs and thighs.they are getting more definition but upper body on the other had i am NOT seeing any progress esp arms and stomach.
2)WHAT can i do to make sure upper body is getting toned as well?
3)this morning was suppose to be hill repeats day.when i got to the spot i warmed up 40like 2min and just a second after starting to run i felt a sharp pain on the front part of right thigh. i stopped immediately and did skipping rope for 15min. that was the end of work out.tomorrow morning im suppose to do a 10k jog.should i do it?

You may not have been warmed up enough and strained a muscle - hill repeats really do a number on the thigh muscles. I wouldn't recommend going out for a 6 mile run on an injured leg. Give it a day or two of rest. I know it is hard to "rest" when you have a certain plan you go by, but it is important - don't ignore pain or try to push through it, it will only aggravate it more.HipposPlod2 wrote:this morning was suppose to be hill repeats day.when i got to the spot i warmed up 40like 2min and just a second after starting to run i felt a sharp pain on the front part of right thigh. i stopped immediately and did skipping rope for 15min. that was the end of work out.tomorrow morning im suppose to do a 10k jog.should i do it?

Bodyweight exercises are good for increasing strength and tone. I do alot of pushup variations, tri-cep dips, reverse crunches, bicycle crunches and planks, planks and more planks!HipposPlod2 wrote:i am NOT seeing any progress esp arms and stomach.

Hope your leg gets better soon!

does rest mean sitting on the couch and do NOTHING at all or can i do any other activity that wont put pressure on legs. like swim, yoga, pilates?

Sometimes... on rest day.. I take a nice walk... NO heavy lifting or Interval running!
I just enjoy the day but I still continue to watch what I eat.. I eat more when I workout because I need that energy.
Rest day does not mean be a lazy a$$... It means your body needs to recover for the next workout

I have learned that rest is very important and have cut back on what I do on gym days along with the number of days that I go, it has made a huge difference.

you should go to gym. but if you cant I recommend you to run like 2 miles in 20 min. max gradually. day and day you increase your speed.İf you do not have any heart problem. for your stomach dont forget there is no way to loose fat partly. you should more protein and less sugar. get rid of the junk food. and do this routine in 5 days right after running.
day 1:
push-up 4 sets 25 rep
incline push- up 4 sets 25 reps
decline push-up 4 sets 25 reps
parallel bar dips 4 sets 20 reps
jump squat 3 sets 10 reps
day 2
crunch 4 sets 25 reps
oblique crunch 4 sets 25 reps
doggy style butt raise 4 sets 25 reps
lying leg raise
seated dumbell press pyramid buy extra pounding! good luck you ll see the result in 6 week

Really now... no need to be rude ... We all just trying to help one another out.makhou wrote:You do "If you cannot be polite, you should not post" . How about if you don't like it don't read it!! I'll post as long as i am breathing...
And if an idea is conflicting... then politely disagree and bring your perpective in...
But no need to post something on a free forum and tell people DON'T READ IT if you don't like it...
And what's wrong being a female and wanting to lift?
Re: ??what can i do to improve workout routine?
how are your legs lookin mate?I don't care for weights anyway. I am a push ups, pull ups & chin ups guy.Weights are for wimps. All they do is pump up with air & tear up your joints

twice today i have been mistaken for a pregnant woman.I didnot mind because it meant i did not have to stand in long lines but this BIG STOMACH HAS TO GO.this is all thanks to years of neglecting body, drinking one too many beers, eating foods that were of no nutritional value.
