Substitute for white refined sugar

Post by JamesmORRIS »

Can anyone give me some ideas on what I could use to replace white refined sugar? I know that I use too much sugar in diet in things like oat meal, hot tea and cereals.

Honey is ok in the tea, but not very good in oat meal and cereal.

I recently discovered agave syrup in the grocery store. It has a GI of 19 and is very sweet. I now have it everyday instead of sugar in coffee. I have put it in oatmeal, yogurt, even ice tea. I think it tastes really good, almost like sugar.

I use stevia and really like it. From what I can see, it seems like a better alternative than splenda or aspertame. You can find it in most large grocery stores in the sugar isle.
