Button Peircing??

Post by ilurvebroccoli »

Hey there. I just got mine done yesterday. It didn't really hurt..but I was wondering if anyone can answer some questions (if you have experience in this).

What should I use to clean it? Someone said rubbing alcohol, but everywhere I've done research has said that its bad for peircings and slows the healing process. I also heard to use neosporin on it to kill any infection, but then I heard that it harbors bacteria because it keeps the area moist and doesn't allow it to properly heal.

The conclusion that I've drawn from research is to clean it in the shower with a mild antibacterial soap, and soak it/ clean it with a non iodized sea salt solution several times daily.

I assumed some of the females here have naval peircings, and was wondering what worked best for you?

Thanks,
Stacey

I always wonder why women do it. I don't frown upon it, but I don't get the point of Naval piercing, just like I don't get the Tongue one either.

co-worker got her nose pierced and a few days later the nose ring item went inside her nose.
She couldn’t pull it out and had to go to the hospital (emergency room) so they can pull the item out for her

She wanted me to get nose pierced with her…but I said NO Thank you!
After getting ears pierced since I was 3 years old… NO MORE piercing for me!!!

Yeah I wouldn't want to get nose peirced. friend did, and she got a zit underneath it......so it got all green and infected. Its been like that for 3 months and she refuses to take it out...not sure why.

Yeah so I got this H2ocean stuff...and it seems to be cleaning the peircing pretty well. I've also been inverting a shot glass full of sea salt water each day for about 15 min. The redness is going down and not swollen anymore. YAY! Haha.

I got pierced when I turned 30 and discovered unfortunately after I put a solid gold ring in that I couldn't wear anything but surgical steel so I had to get antibiotics for the infection. I found that keeping the area clean with anti bacterial soap, using salt water to the cleanse the area and applying betadine helped get it back to normal. To this day I haven't had any problems at all.

Lesplease wrote:Ocean Water. It is a brand of cleaner made specifically for piercings. Claire's Accessories (a little teeny bopper mall store with crappy jewelery and free piercings) also sells what I affetionately call "ear goo" (might be called Ear Care) in a HUGE bottle for about 7 bucks. Most Walgreens carry piercing solutions.

DO NOT use alcohol! Soap and water is correct though. Wash it out gently with a mild soap and water 2x/day in addition to a piercing solution.

Who is that malefactor that his trying to strangle Wiggles in your Avatar? I think we should call in the R.P.S.A.

It is not the gold that is the problem, it is the alloying material that they use to reduce the gold from 24K to 18K or 14K is causing an alergic reaction, inflamation and (perhaps) infection.

You can get gold ear rings (and I would imagine BB rings) with surgical steel posts. They also sell anti-alergy coatings for the posts.

See: http://www.utilisegold.com/jewellery_te ... ur_alloys/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Your issue is probably with the copper (or zinc) and not with the gold itself. Try wearing 24K gold and see if it resolves your issues.

*facepalm*

Yeah, and I had a typo. It should have read "is" and not "his"
