i heard the upright rows can damage your shoulders that its better just to lift your shoulders and lower them easily with a heavy dumbbell in each hand , i don't know of any other exercise that really works them :?

I dont do up right rows and I do think they are bad for your shoulders, but some people have no problem with them.

Doing shrugs is a great way to hit your traps.

Hold dumbells at your sides and shrug your shoulders. You could also hold a barbell in front of you with both hands and shrug your shoulders.

Also to target your middle trap (part of your back) do bent over rows.

Dead lifts and pull ups

Post by fitnessedu »

The dead lift is the one of the best overall back exercise when done properly.

Pull ups are, in humble opinion, the best lat exercises...it is one of the basic lat motions. If you can, wear a chained weight belt with a weight disc attached to it. Do these until failure.

Check out fitness and nutrition blog http://fitnessnutritioneducation.blogspot.com. I'm sure that you'll find some useful information there. I have a whole section on back exercises (mostly geared toward lats).

Good luck!
