So i read that hill sprints are good for anaerobic fitness not to mention explosive power.
question is will hill sprints work aerobic fitness?. I hear that things like sprints/hill sprints are the way forward to increase your aerobic endurance but most things i have read don't mention the aerobic endurance and only mention anaerobic.
Your comments are appreciated.
Hill sprints.

They could do. I don't speak from personal experience, but maybe the best way is to try and see. They do work for explosive movments, by helping to adapt the Fast Twitch Muscle Fibres, but it's possible they might have some aerobic capability, but then again, it could differ from person to person, based on things like amount of fibres, breathing technique, frequency of doing it, dietary intake etc etc.

Re: Hill sprints.
If you do the sprints no more than 2 minutes apart you will get an aerobic benefit. Your heart rate will peak during the sprints then begin to recede. At 2 minutes your heart rate should be down by 50-60 heart beats, still in the aerobic range. The goal would be to lessen the time between sprint intervals but only secondary to increasing your speed. Make sure to warm-up before running sprints and BTW hill training shortens your stride so I recommend doing some flat or decline work (5% grade max) immediately following. A quarter to half mile should be enough, remember the focus is on the sprints.
Best.
Best.

Re: Hill sprints.
what do you want aerobic endurance for?
Re: Hill sprints.
Yes, what exactly are you training for? Wind sprints and hill sprints are really an area of exercises that are usually worked for a specific purpose (like a specific sport).swanso5 wrote:what do you want aerobic endurance for?
