MOTIVATION... 5K... 10K... ????
I have realized that in order to keep me on track with working out I need a goal! It seems to be hard for me because I don’t need to lose weight (which is a goal for most people). I am quite happy with weight and I eat very healthy, but I want to work out more and seem to have no motivation to do so. I considered doing some kind of race… I know I could NO WAY win a race of any kind, but I think training for it would keep me in check with working out! If anyone has any ideas or ways to motivate please let me know! Also I know NOTHING about any races, 5K, 10K, or marathons, so if you think it may help me and you know more information about them please let me know! I live in the Philadelphia area if that helps!

I think it is great to set a goal for yourself. It definitely helps me to focus and work hard.
If you have never ran a race before, I would suggest you start out with a 5K race. The Philidelphia area, being as large as it is, probably has a 5K nearly every weekend somewhere locally or not far off.
There are alot of great websites that have step by step instructions as to how to go about beginning training and conditioning.
here is one link that might help you:
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
It is a "couch to 5k" running plan (not that you have just been laying around on a couch!!) but it is a good starting point.
Alot of motivation comes from doing something that we like and will stick with, so if you see that short races (focusing on speed) aren't really for you, then you might look into longer races - 1/2 marathons, marathons (that focus more on endurance). Sprint Triathlons are really popular as a alternative (300M swim/12 mile bike/3 mile run)
But with any sport, remember to take it slow and don't overdo, over stressing your body and causing injury.
Good luck!!

I can tell you have no body complex issues for sure, just a wonderful little bundle of joy, to make you smile
.
I would concur on the 5k, as this would get you used to the basics of preparing for something like that. If you liked it, you could go one better for longer races, and harder levels of prep and maybe in the future progress to Marathons.

Hey girl!
Congrats on the recent marriage!!!
I think training for a race is a great idea. As the others suggested, I would start small(er) and see how that goes. If you enjoy it you can always work your way up to a longer distance. :)
As for motivation... Does your husband work out also? Maybe you guys could start working out together? This would hold you and him accountable and you guys could work together to help one another achieve your goals.
