Iron Mind grippers

Post by Packard »

By and large I'm into equal opportunity weight training. I try to work all of muscles equally.

I do have two exceptions at the advice of father. He said, "With the exception of being on the beach the only muscles most people will see are your forearms and calves. The calves in the summer with shorts; the forearms any time you wear a polo shirt."

With that in mind I've always worked calves and forearms fairly hard (the forearms quite hard).

I have a pair of squeeze grippers from the sporting goods store but I can squeeze them all day long and not get tired.

Last week I ordered a pair of squeeze grippers from Iron Mind, the model 1250 which is their 100 pound test grippers. Amazing. I can just barely squeeze out 10 reps with these. And when I can do these easily they have models with much higher poundage levels.

If you are interested in improving your grip strength, then these are excellent.

interesting grip strength is good to have. personally i would rather do deadlifts, lungues and rows to work on grip strength. I never work forearms by themselfs yet they continue to grow with the rest of body.

I also like to wear no shirt at all whenever possible i have never been very interested in showing off forearms.

just personal oppinion no offence Packard

Nah, I bust balls.

Actually most famous feat is to grab an apple and pull it apart in two halves without crushing it into apple sauce. It makes a loud ripping sound and it is most impressive. It requires reasonable, but not prodigeous grip strength. There is a modicum of technique involved, however.

Personally I don't really think those gripper type things are all that great, no matter who makes them.

Plus there may be a risk to Joint health for some.

You can actually buy a device, not sure what it's called, which looks like a metal rectangle, with spring loaded parts on it, that you rest the Thumb and Fingers, in, and then you tense / untense, and the springs are supposed to provide digital resistance.

Unfortunately, Google images failed to provide any images of said device, so I can't show you what it looks like.

Why not call it a job share scheme. A bit like a piecework scheme.

You both get paid 10 cents commission per bollock.
