Strength Training 5x5

Post by Laurie1 »

Could i do barbell rows instead of inverted rows ?
And would i do workout A twice in the week or workout B ?

And would i make it a weight heavy enough so i can only do 7 reps but do 5 ?

I would suggest doing workout B twice a weak atleast until your deadlift becomes so heavy it over taxes your body then i would switch. Also i would stick to the exercises they suggest. I would suggest using a 5RM meaning you can't do more than 5 but that might be hard to sustain for 5 sets.

If you have to swap barbell rows for the inverted rows then use a light weight til failure because its meant as an endurance/strength exercise. Also for barbell rows remember to rest the bar back on the ground in between reps for a second to maintain form. As for weight for other exercises if you've done the exercise and are comfortable with it then don't be afraid to stack on some weight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss5SuopztW4 heres a good video of barbell rows.. he takes a little bit too long of rest in between reps but you get the idea.

*edit if you have a power rack and an Olympic bar you can do inverted rows.. not sure of equipment you have*
