After you've trained a while I'd go with a four day split:
monday: upper body
tuesday: lower body
thursday: upper body
friday: lower body
You should be able to hit a body part about every five days. Full body routines aren't quite as practical as you get more intense. After a hard set of squats, for example, you may not feel like doing bench press. This is where splitting can help.
