A Winner's Creed !

Post by ldematto »

I recently had the honor of sitting next to Kevin O 'Reilly, who was a guest motivational speaker at a business event I attended. Some of you may recognize his name as he was an NFL football player in the 70's for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kevin explained to me and the audience how on a day in Oct 1974 he had the best day of his life as he and his team mates (Special Teams - he was the Captain) were introduced at the beginning of the game, a dream come true for a 22 year old that always dreamed of being an Eagle as a youth. Tragically 5 years later in Oct. he had surgery as the result of cancer, he was left without his left arm, 5 ribs and a portion of his shoulder.

In these tough economic times and the adversity we face every day, Kevin reminded us that's it's all relative. Kevin overcame incredible adversities and became a true champion, one who now speaks to all audiences about his struggles and triumphs. He identifies his "consistent persistence" and his "I CAN" attitude as the tools that got him to where he is today.

He recited the following "A WINNERS CREED" which I thought was worth sharing with friends on Shapefit

"A Winner's Creed"

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don't
If you'd like to win but think you can't
It's almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you've lost
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a person's will
As it's all in the state of mind

If you think you're outclassed, you are
You've got to think high to rise
You've got to be sure of yourself
Before you can win the prize.

Remember life's battles don't always
Go to the fastest, strongest or smartest man
But sooner or later the person who wins
Is the person who thinks...."I CAN!"

Thanks Boopster :)

I felt it was appropriate for this site because so many times we get down on ourselves due to a relatively minor misstep or get depressed because we aren't losing enough weight or building muscle fast enough. The "I CAN" attitude really does help and because thoughts typically become reality - we need to think positive!
