Hi everyone! I've been struggling with weight for many years, since I had daughter who is now 6. I got down to a torrerable weight after her birth, but then we decided to have another. Now I have a boy and a girl and I'm ready to call it quits and take back body! Unfortunatly it's really hard!
Since I'm a SAHM it's good to find what looks like an active weight loss forum. It would be good to meet some friends and finally have some adult conversation!
Wishing everyone luck and love,
evilT

haha thanks
Hey I saw on here that eating every 3 hours is best to lose weight by having a consistently high metabolism, and it's been buggin me all day, I understand the thermic effect of food, is every 3 hours the magic number with a scientific basis? I assume so, but then what about the rule of having an eatting cut off time two hours before bed, does that still stand? I heard the reason for that was because overnight your body will dip into fat stores, in a way its contrary to eating to rev your metabolism though... any thoughts on an eating cut off time?

3 hours should be around a maximum timeframe really. Some eat every 2-2.5 hours depnding on needs.
Metabolism does taper a bit in the evenings, but realistically some say don't eat after 8-9 at night. thoughts are it's fine to eat around 10 if you're going to bed at midnight, and some even take Protein shakes, before bed for preservation of muscle.
The body does have a much lower Metabolic activity rate when sleeping, but it still burns calories, and that's due to things like Bloodflow, Brain activity etc etc.
Probably the only people who don't burn calories are the deceased.
So it's also about what you have. If you think about it, eating something like a small Yoghurt before bed, is likely to have little to no Fat storage ability, if you're eating a small pot without about 60-80 calories in, but if you eat a Chicken Sandwhich, you might find it's a slightly different story.
So yes you could use a cut off point of 1-2 hours before, and if you're concerned about calories, don't go over 200-250 with the last meal.
As Metabolism is touted as being more active first thing, you could always add another 50-100 calories approx in your first meal, on top of what the next 4-5 out of 6-7 daily meals, would have, to allow for the small reduction in your last meal, just so you're not a little under what would be beneficial for the day.
