hello, new here

Post by scuba »

Wow, what a staggering source of info. Well here is story. This fall I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I took it very seriously, and now have loss 60 lbs and counting. previous work out regimen was more about strength training. Now there has been a shift to more of an overall fitness. I still do the weights but have added more of a cardio plan. I am finding an interest of maybe diving into an ironman competition. I am over the hill so to speak as I am 39,lol. So I am looking as finishing one as goal. I have started running, and have biked pretty aggresive all winter, so swimming would be next to start on. What is the best plan of attack to train for one of these? Next year would be target to do one. So any routines would be greatly appreciated.
In return, I have learnt alot about proper nutrition, please feel free to pick brain.

I was wondering, for a busy person whos already counting calories and working out 6 days a week, what would be the most important thing(s) nutrionwise to sort of keep an eye on or track everyday? IYO :) Thanks!
O, and how long did it take you to lose your unwanted body fat?

I would suggest you could do a Cardio cycling system. So perhaps something like this.

Day 1. Swimming

Day 2. Cycling

Day 3. Running

Day 4. Swimming

Day 5. Cycling

Day 6. Running

Day 7. Day off

Might possibly lead to a bit of severe muscle fatigue, or injury risk, if improper technique was used though.

Plus in order to retain the Cardiovascular and possible resistance benefits from it, you'd have to dig about 2-3 pools a week

Perhaps a part-time career move as a pool design expert, when your kids are at school age :P

well beans! hey, I was just wondering, I have a bad knee, I wear a knee brace for cardio workouts, only on days when it's feeling creeky, and one thing I found was it was impossible to cycle. We had one of those ones that your legs are extended in front of you... any suggestions for how a bad knee could cycle?

Try using a recumbant, and seeing if a seat setting further from the display helps.

Also have you taken anything for the knee, like Glucosamine + Chondritin, Hyaluronic Acid, etc etc, or things like Cartazyne for Cartilage?

If you're not doing things like that, it might be worth it.
