so im trying to beef up the lower leg meat, and i run alot, but i find it alot harder to keep getting motivated to run. i love to bike though...would i get the same effects if i drastically reduced running and upped biking?
If you want to work on your calves through biking, you need to position your foot properly on the pedal. And concentrate the effort on carlves and ankles not on your tights when you push the pedal down. The try to sweep upward (like swiping your foot on the door mat) to pull the pedal occationally. Choose a hilly track and dont stand on the bike. Let the calves to to do work. You can do some cheats by transfering the effor to your tights to give the calves a break.
And on gym do the heavy standing and seated leg raises. But still you still need to have a recovery period. That's why I'm alternating concentration of effort on tights and calves on biking commute. I rode this two wheel the whole week to work. And I put leg and calves workout on Fridays so that I have a two days complete rest on these lower muscle.
