Basketball

Post by luke101 »

Anyone know of any good work outs for improving your game. Mostly for more explosivenes. I've been doing squats and deadlifts for some time and found it to be helpfull with shot. lot of your shot comes from the legs.
are there any key weight lifting excercises essential for basketball?
thanks in advance

What you can do is clean and press, it will help with your arms so when your legs are tired you dont have to worry because the strength of your arms wil be fine to carry the load. Continue using compound exercises so your body parts use each other and strengthen together. Also do walking lunges with a barbell on your back, it is a killer leg exercise. Step ups onto a bench with a barbell on your back is also very helpful.

i play a little basketball and find that i improve more from practicing and playing games than i do from exercising. your shot takes time, and i think that it's more based on practice than lifting weights.

Work with a medicine ball and jumping, throwing it against a wall, shooting it, etc...

Also do some yoga, work your balance, core, and really helps the ankles too.

I would also swim as much as possible even 4- 5 times a week if you have the place to do it.
