Weight Training

I'm kind of confused about it. I see many different people have many different opinions (not just this website) about what is an effective weight training program. I hear that you should train each muscle group only once a week, like chest and back one day, triceps biceps another, etc. Then I hear people doing 45 minutes of weight training five days a week! What is the right way to weight train for toning and weight loss?

full body workouts 3x a week, cardio on days inbetween (hiit) get your diet in order and your off.
