I have been working out since 6th grade. I'm a senior in HS. I haven't always been active though. I usually let school sports compensate for not working out at home.
Well over the years, I have done so many curls, pushups, abs, squats. I remember that in 8th grade, regular workout was like 200 dumbbell curls (with 10 lbs, but I use 15 lbs now), 100 pushups, 50 shoulder raises, 6 different ab workouts of 30 reps each, and 100 continuous squats (no dumbbells) Every Day!!! But despite all, I have always been a runner - slender torso but bulging calves, but they're not that big... I'm just very agile and fast.
What I'm wondering is whether I can make torso into a beastly frame while maintaining agility as a runner. I'm 6'1 and 155 lbs, but the reason I'm slender is because I'm really tall. The reason friends beat me at arm wrestling is because forearm is longer. I want to have bigger arms, and forearms, a bigger torso, and still be able to dominate the field in ultimate frisbee. As long as I can look sexy in a Large size t-shirt, I'll be happy lol.
Any tips?
Also, I don't want to have to buy a gym or anything. I would much rather just keep it simple with traditional dumbbells and weights. Those Bowflex crap are so overrated
P.S. I have also been wondering if I've been working out too often and that I'm out growing dumbbells. I'm doing like 50 reps per arm in each set set for curls on 15 lbs. Will I get better results if I upgrade to like 25 lbs dumbbells and modify workout into fewer reps?
Bigger Muscles???

definately modify to much less reps. what you're doing, if anything, is increasing muscle stamina. but since you want to get stronger, 50 reps is way too much. try 5-7 solid reps without swing your arm.
since you workout at home, and obviously have access to barbells, try some full body workouts. such as squats, and deadlifts. considering you wish to be a runner, applying these in your workouts will improve your running. again, keep reps from 5-7. technique before reps.

should i get 25 or 30 lbs dumbbells? Because doing 10-20 reps using 15 lbs doesn't make sense to me, since I can do 50+. And no, I don't swing arms. From what I understand, it also has to do with power (for physics nerds, it's work divided by time), and I guess more power by doing less reps with heavier weights would get me bigger guns?
Another tip that I got is to explode up with arms when I'm doing curls or with legs when I'm doing squats? OK I got it.

waaaay to many reps. do you have a routine? if so post it. the best exercise for arms? chinups. if i were you id invest in a chinup bar, theyre relatively cheap and you get ones that fit between a door frame. if your doing any more than 10-12 reps of anything with ease then the weight is far too light.
Yea too easy with lighter weights.....12reps of say (thinks in foreign american weight) 30lbs per arm. No idea if that wud be heavy for u but u get the idea. Do a workout with chinups and much heavier weight than ur using for curls, maybe a bar for curling in there, or leave that to another day of the cycle.
