Oats?

Post by flytyer79 »

Hello Everyone,

I am the new kid to the site. I see that a lot of people talk about taking oats with their protein. So whats the deal?

What kind of oats if everyone taking? How much? When? Should it be accompanied with protein powder or by itself? Should I eat oat's (complex Carbs) before I workout? If so, how long be for I workout?

Sorry for the continuous questions, I have ADD, if you couldn't tell. HA HA :?

You cam use any kind of Oats. there are different types like Steel Cut and Rolled. Just crush them up, and add them to a Protein powder, if your powder is Carb free. If you use a Carb based powder, you don't really need the Oats.

Hi there,

I usually take a serving of oats (I prefer the old fashioned, not quick cook) and mix in a scoop of protien powder cinnamon and water then cook for a few minutes. It tastes pretty good. You can eat these before working out.... I would do it about 2 hours before working out to make sure they have plenty of time to digest.

Hope this helps.

Need to watch that though, as the Apple digestion will be hindered by the other food. You'd be better perhaps having the Apple, giving it 10-15 minutes to digest, and then having the remainder of the Breakfast.

Most Fruit all barring Tomatos and possible Peppers and Cucumber, dislike other foods when mixed in the Stomach. Not to a serious point like Stomach cramps, Nausea, Vomiting etc etc, but just because it makes the Fruit partially putrify.

Only real issue I've haerd of regarding that is Whole-grain and Citrus together, which has been linked to Hyperacidity and GERD.

It speaks for itself, same with Banana. An Apple content in your Stomach not digesting? That's what you want it to do, so you've kind of answered your own question?

Bascially if it starts to partially putrify, because of an enzymatic reaction connected to additional foods, most if any people shouldn't get a serious reaction like Vomiting, Cramps etc etc, but it would just waste some of the nutrition.

No worries, didn't want to come across as abrasive or anything like that. Totally understand why you asked now :).

I like to add some ground flax for added omega 3s.
