So I sprained ankle pretty badly playing basketball about a week and a half ago, and all I've been doing is eating junk food and not lifting weights. How sad :(

RICE.

Rest, Ice Compression, Elevation. If you're not doing any of these, I'd advise it. The more of them the better.

Also pick up the slack on the food. Your Ankle might be crocked but your Stomach isn't. Well not yet anyways .

Roll you foot (bare, no shoes nor socks) on a bottle (not plastic) gently back and forth. With this it will trigger your foot glands for blood cirulation.

Hi there,

Sorry about your ankle. That totally sucks! Remember though... you can still do upper body! I dropped a couple hundred pounds on ankle last summer (weight lifting injury) and totall messed up calf and ankle. Even though I could barely walk I was still able to do quite a few upper body exercises (bench press, pullups, rows, dips). In addition, i'm not sure if youre working out in a gym but gym has an upper body cardio machine that is pretty much like a bicycle for your upper body... that worked great for getting heart rate up when I couldn't put weight on leg. Also, as mentioned swimming is always great. And, as Boss said don't forget the RICE! I would ice that as much as possible as that can drastically improve your healing time.

I hope you feel better soon!

Are you sure it's a sprain and not a fracture? I sprained ankle REALLY bad sophomore year of high school baseball and I was working on it 5 days later.
