cardio and protein
I know to drink a protein shake before and after weights but is the same true for cardio?
I have a question regarding protein and actually the post - workout protein shake. So I usually eat 1 - 2 hours before I hit the gym and I eat protein / carbs to give me energy before the gym. Now I read and read but I can't get to a conclusion on what to put into protein shake for post - workout. This is what I put in protein so far:
16 oz skim milk
2 scoops whey
1 - 2 tbsp of honey
few ice cubes
I blend all of that together. It tastes really good but the question is: I'm trying to lose weight here, and I believe that if I build muscle, it will burn the fat. But do I need to replenish body with carbs after a workout? Or how does this whole carb thing work as far as trying to lose weight? I feel like I'm wasting time at the gym because I'm worried to much about carb intake, and protein intake and all that.
And can protein also count as a meal replacement? I usually eat about 2 hours after protein shake, protein filled meal.

Honey is workable, but use water not Milk, Milk increases Calories, Casein, and Enzyme activity, slowing down shake abosorption.
Honey can be used to assist the Protein, by stimulating an Insulin spike, however it won't help much with Glycogen replacement, as it interacts with the Liver, (not the main Glycogen source you'll have used), being a simple Carb.
So you could add something like Crushed Cashews or Oats into the Mix, and that's a good combo.

if your powder already has sugar then you probably don't need honey

He's been trying a new type of Meal replacement shake, primarily designed for Fishermen who work out at sea all day.
The Crab free one is because some people have an allergy to Shellfish, (the Chitin content), so the new one he's been trying is made with Sardines, a Fish type Swanso likes if memory serves well
.
I believe it's called Ripped Fish
