I need some help and advice.
Age 47
5' 7"
160 lbs
I work international oilfield in tropics, hot and humid.
I walk about 6 miles a day at least 6 days per week when home in States. When Offshore at work I walk for 1 hour outside and I walk the platform and climb a lot of stair steps for about 1 hour - this is a lot of steps.
I also do 50 pushups, 5 pullups, & 5 chinups I do this three times during the day.
I do these 6 or 7 days per week.
I am not interested in bulking up, I just want to increase in strength and stamina.
I had hernia surgery a couple of years ago so I do not need to be lifting weights.
I also have herniated discs in neck due to sins of oilfield youth - so I need to be careful that way too.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

strength is built with heavy wt or very hard versions of your exercises...which ever way you go, your sets should not exceed 15secs or so or you'll switch over to a different "time inder tension" bracket (muscle gain)...i would suggest going to www.ringtraining.com and looking at their articles for some ideas of bodyweighht type training although a lot of their stuff is performed with gymnastics rings...www.bodyweightculture.com is also another goody
