I'm trying to cut down some of that baby fat while gaining some muscle defenition at the same time. is it reasonable to think that you'd see improvements on both. or should i concentrate on one thing at a time?
Baby fat? Well youre not a woman so its not that kinda baby fat and you are 26 so its not puppy fat. So you mean you wanna get rid of greedy fat? ha. Only kidding. Losing fat and building muscle come hand in hand. As you build muscle your metabolism speeds up and burns more fat.
To do this you need to be weight training 3 times a week. heavy heavy heavy.

I think a colorie is a calorie but the experts may disagree with me there. The point is if you eat crap you dont get the correct nutrients that your body needs to function to its full potential.
If your body is working to full potential its only common sense that you will look and feel better then if you are lacking.

You can "fool" your body into burning more calories than it would normally burn.
Each time you start to workout your body takes that information and signals that an increase in metabolism is underway. That increase in metabolism continues for a short period of time (about an hour or so) after you have completed your workout.
So, if you do something that "tricks" your body into thinking you are doing a workout you will get an "after-burn". A brisk walk for 20 minutes in the morning and at lunch will give you two extra "burns" of calories. In addition to the actual calories you burn up during the workout you will get that "after-burn".
Alternatively you can do more than one workout per day, but logistically the two extra walks are more manageable if you work or go to school. If you work, get off the bus one stop earlier and walk the rest of the way to work. For lunch, eat a quick sandwich and go for a brisk walk.
The benefits exceed the effort involved.
