Hi, i'm a 16 year old who weights only 7 stone 10 lbs and i'm 5 foot 9-10ish.
I am skinny and mum has been worrying about me so has told me to try and eat some more food. I normally ( before last few days ) would only consume maximum of 2000 cals. I need help on this because its not healthy to be worrying about weight!
Ok so to the beginning. When i started this obsession with what i eat i was about 14 - 15 ish. I weighted 8stone 6 lbs. I eat all the junk food that a regular teenager would eat and i was happy with general life. I think metabolism was quick then but now i worry that if i eat these chocolates ( not all the time ) that i will just become fat.
Does anyone know how much food an average 16 year old should be eating and do you know if i may have slowed down metabolism during the years?
I'm an active teenager ( if this helps ), also diet has been clean and still is cleanish even though mum gets on at me
god that is skinny for your height! what kind of food you eating? do you have a workout routine of any kind? or is this just a general question? are you worried that youll get fat when you eat therefore try and avoid it?
Thanks for the reply. Ok ive started a workout plan. Just simple things like free weights and press-ups.
The sort of foods i eat are things like sandwichs ( ham, no butter ) cereal ( fruit and fibre ) beans and whatever is on the plate for dinner.
i'm active teen i play alot of football ( soccer ) so this keeps me fit and burning calories.
mum is getting sort of concerned about weight ( 116 lbs - around 8 stone ) and is telling me to eat more. She has noticed that i turn down alot of food as i fear what is inside them too much. She says if you fancy a bit of chocolate take some and that everything is ok in moderation. So instead of trying to consume only 2000 cals ive increased this too around 2300 - 2500 these last few days.
Diet today :
Breakfast : bowl of kellogs crunchy nut
Lunch : beans and toast
Dinner : fish and chips
Snacks : cream egg and a ham sandwich
although ive eat this food i had a game of football today which is about 60 minutes of cardio ( was sub ) and ive also done a 30 minute workout with free weights.
main problem is although mum says i might have to eat alot more stuff to gain some weight i feel guilty when i eat quite alot so any ideas on how to combat this?
And finally if i eat alot more food aswell as doing weights and cardio could i maybe gain some muscle or something?
you sound as if you could have a borderline eating disorder. try not count calories it will do your head in. i would suggest you try and gain some weight, not bad junk food weight but increase what you eat by adding tons of veg, lean meats(chicken, beef, etc),cheese, beans, basicaly high protein foods. you will feel healthier and if you couple this with a good weight routine you will be head and shoulders above the rest! also post what weights routine youve got going.
the best thing for you to start of with is some bodyweight exercises such as pushups, chinups, pullups, body squats etc(look on youtube for good form) once you can execute all of these exercises for 20 reps (perfect form- no cheating!) then you will be ready for weights.
for example do something like 5x5 pushups mon, wed, fri then the following monday do 6x5 then the next monday do 7x5..... and so on till you get to 10x5, then you could move onto proper weightlifting. this will get you used to a routine and progressing along steadily. you can buy a chin up bar for about £8 from argos that fits between a door frame.... buy it ,its a very wise investment!
for an eating plan go to diet section and read "read before posting" read it carefully as alot of people just scan through it and say they dont understand it!
