Running regularities

Post by jerichoholic »

Hi guys, im new to the forum but isnt by any means new to the website, ive been reading the forums for a pretty long time.

So, question is, ive recently started running on the treadmill and been running for 40min each time at 10.5 (speed), for 3 times a week. I was wondering if this is helpful for cutting weight? If not, any advice?

Thanks a bunch. :D

Not too bad. You only need about 2-3 30 minute sessions of Cardio a week, and the rest of the time weightlifting, good diet, and a couple of rest days.

oh ok cool good to know thanks alot.

Im weightlifting pretty often so the only problem mainly is diet. Well im a student and its pretty difficult to eat healthy sometimes when im at school and don't have the liberty to choose food, but im trying.

Oh one more thing, can you guys give me examples of some compound exercises that can help me to cut weight?

Thanks!

If you want compounds you're looking at things like Squats, Cleans, Deadlifts, Bent Over Barbell Rows etc etc

Have you been a runner in the past? I ask because 10.5 is a very fast speed to maintain. Nice!

Sounds like you're doing well. If your weight is dropping steadily but not too fast you know you're doing something right. Good advice above on the compound movements.

oh nice i love water! So thats not a problem :D
But i dont drink as much as you, about 3 to 4L a day maybe?

nice with the diet! Do you come up with your own diet plans? Or do you follow some of the tips in the sticky thread for diet/nutrition?

Yeah i agree, i think exercising part isnt too bad, but the things i eat are pretty, well i eat anything that i want, and thats bad, but i eat healthy at the same time. Or i try at least. I dont eat fast food, no bread, little fried food, little oily food etc. Oh and i seldom eat cakes and stuff, maybe ice cream once in a while. I cut down on carbs too, like if there's rice for 1 serving, i'll only eat half or less. But sometimes im not sure if thats helping.

--- oh and about breakfast, well its the holidays now, so i usually wake up at around 12 in the afternoon, so i definitely have no way of eating breakfast, is that bad?

--- eating every 2-3 hours means eating healthy at every meal right? So these 2-3 hour snacking have to be like of sandwiches or biscuits?

--- hey i checked out the abs diet, pretty cool, it gives me info on whats healthy and ok to consume and EVEN BOOSTS MUSCLE BUILDING and WEIGHT LOSS. Pretty neat. Yeah i need recommendation on what brand of whey protein to get, like from GNC? friends have been talking about it so i more or less know about its functions etc. just need help buying the right one. Any help is greatly greatly appreciated:D

--- sugar, sometimes i cant control what goes into food, but mostly i DO try to skip excessive sugar intake.

--- nice heads up on HFCS, thanks lot!!!!

Hey gut_to_cut, can't thank you enough for the advice you have given me, i'll work hard to lose the weight that i want, i believe everyone's doing that. You're greatly appreciated, thanks!

Whey - most amount for least price for the same amount serving. Have right after workout. Simple like that. GNC can be expensive so shop around. If you go to Price Club there is one for a decent price there.

cheers

I'm going to comment on the White Bread / Rice thing. take is, it's not about never do it, it's about keep it limited. There is still some good nurition in those things, they aren't as bad as eating Pizzas, where a lot of the Nutrition is probably sacrificed, and the calories are ramped up by megatonnes of Fat.

I agree Wheat alternatives and foods made from such things, are a greater option than the white kinds, but in mind, white is not an enemy, except when you over indulge.

Like anything, if you ate one slice of White Bread, you're not going to collapse on the floor roling in agony, actually you probably wouldn't eating 5-6 slices a day, but the point is, moderation is king. Unless these things contain really bad stuff like MSG, avoiding them completely is up to the individual I feel, but if the individual is not too bothered about a bit of white this or white that, then "a bit" sometimes, isn't going to be a problem, unless obviously the persons lifestyle in general is pretty ropey.

Not saying this to diss what you said, as I appreciate the sentiment of your words. I'm just putting own thoughts on this.

As for Atkins, yeah the guy was a bit deluded.

I heard of people on it who put weight back on, and whilst doing it, just got bad breath and farted more. Should be called the Fartkins Diet then shouldn't it. Frankly a bit less trapped Methane / Phlatus, will make nobody slimmer, and certainly Farting is not some kind of .

Though it is proof you're eating properly, as people who don't and go on TV shows admitting they haven't pooped for 2 weeks, probably haven't blown off for two weeks either .

No not brutal, you're just being honest. I'm not advocating eating with this or white that, just that such foods needn't be demonised by people as much as say Pizzas, or Kebabs should.

i dnt know what theyre like in the states, but over her in the uk a kebab is one of the most greasiest, fattening and horrible things you could put in your mouth! over here its a huge chunk of meat skewered with a steel rod, sat upright and rotated ,with a grill type device used to heat it!

they dont serve on a stick here we jst get off cuts ,very thin strips, from this huge slab of meat thats constantly turning (i say meat as im not actually sure which animal it comes from!) also, its not lean meat i think it could be scraps of meat moulded into one big slab, dnt quote me on this though, bossman would surely be able to tell you more about it! all in all though its widely known to be a very fatty food this side of the pond!
