Fish Oil and CLA

Post by Mbauer21 »

Which one is better?
A while ago I bought fish oil capsules and I was taking twice a day. I recently bought some cla just to try. Can I take both at the same time? like 1 meal fish oil, other meal CLA?
THanks :D

Conjugated Linoileic Acid, is a healthy Oil, and is good for you. I would say if you want both in your day as you described you can do that, just don't go overboard and start having about 3-4 amounts of both, just stick to one amount of each, and keep them spaced as well like you were describing.

I take both and have CLA in the morning with breakfast and fish oils at lunch. They are great to add to your body for support!

I forgot to reply on time...
SOOO TOO much fish oil or cla is bad, right??
I usually have 2 fish oils (2.5g fat each) at lunch, and then maybe next meal flaxseed...then 1or 2 cla's...and dinner 2 fish oils...right now I had three with salad. I had two earlier for lunch and NO CLA's.

Now I am a bit confused :(
Amatlack, from the link you posted, I got a bit confused with fat intake. I used to take 40-50g of fat. But now Im down 40% P 30%C 30% F soo like today im eating 2100 cals. so thats about 70g of fats. Ive been with the 40-30-30 for about 2 weeks already havent really gotten "fat" from it, (bc I dont go over cals and all that) but could it be bad? fats come from live oil, fish oil, cla, flaxseed, and fats from like oats etc.

As long as you're not overdoing it on Fats per meal it's fine. It's about spreading them evenly, so you're not getting too much at one sitting.

Took me less than 1 minute to Google this. Seems to indicate it's good for Diabetics not bad.

experience with the majic oils

Post by burntorange40 »

I'm a 34 year old that works out 4 hard days a week. I really get after it and frequently mix up routines, which I only mention because I'm sure it's second nature to most of you, but never had been for me until the last 6 months. I was 205 in August but still very fit although body fat was roughly 16% because I carry a good amount of abdominal fat. In January, I started waiting tables because I can't find work in field, and I have maintained workout regimen. I only mention this so the readers don't think it was all the products I was taking as when you wait tables, you walk briskly for 4 or 5 hours a day when you work.

I started taking a product called alpha lean made by GNC because I was visiting mother who has always been overweight and she had purchased it and never really took it. Over the following 30 days, I dropped 15 LBS without losing any strength which kind of blew mind because I wasn't trying and diet was the same although calorie limited relative to what I burn. When it ran out, she had some CLA which I took with fish oil based on the recommendations of a salesperson at the Vitamin shoppe. Since that time, I have dropped to 175 and I'm carrying less than 8% body fat and I'm leaner than I have ever been in life. I'm amazed at this combination of supplements because I have tried everything and I can't take the "speed" weight loss options like Xenadriene etc.. because they make me feel nuts. The crazy thing is, that after I finished the alpha lean, I went to buy more but because of the price I wasn't going to drop 70 bucks on a bottle. I only take it once a day, but still, it's expensive so the mixture of CLA and fish oil is way way less expensive and believe it or not, it has produced even better results than the higher cost product.

To be fair, it needs to be 100% clear that waiting tables has contributed, but I waited tables for 7 years while I worked way though college as a younger man, and I was never as lean as I am now 10 years later. The walking helps and I'm also more muscle bound now than I was then, but this product or products are amazing and I'm still dropping body fat. only concern is that skin hasn't been able to catch up with fat loss. At 210 I was still carrying a 33 inch waist so I wasn't fat by any measure of the term, but now, I'm close to a 29 and I'm 5'11 and I have never been "thin" and the last time I had a 29 inch waste was in the 4th grade. I played defensive end in high school at a 5A school and did time at nose guard. At the time I was 215 and not as strong as I am now, in fact, I was pretty chubby and weak as compared to now but I have really changed lifestyle habits to get here. So, now I'm 34, loving the fish oil CLA combo and running about 175 with 6 to 8% body fat with the hopes of reach 2 to 3% and 185lbs.....oh....and dying to get back into career (technology sales).

I hope that some of you find this amazing combination of supplements as effective as I have. I haven't noticed any negative side effects and if anything, skin looks better and I feel a bit better. If I stop taking this it will only be to let skin catch up or if I can't add muscle weight now that I have stripped away the body fat. I have a solid four pack now and hints at 6 which wasn't even close to fathomable at any time in life until now. I work out hard and I have done so off an on for years, but since divorce 18 months ago, I was forced to get serious about it and I'm blown away at the effectiveness of these oils. I have tried most supplement options, and I have never found anything that got close to this. In fact it was so effective and weight loss so extreme in such a short time that I thought I was sick and I had blood tests done on own dime since I don't have insurance to be sure I wasn't showing a high CBC white blood cell count or liver function abnormalities. I was seriously concerned because of how fast it happened, but when the blood and liver tests came back glowing, I knew it was for real.

life isn't roses, but I do have one piece in place, I'm almost to goal of a six pack with the hopes that I might reach "men's health cover" shape...but that's still a good ways off. :-)

Good luck all!!!

Stay around 8% fella. 3% bf is not healthy. Yeah BB's do it, but not all year round. 8% bf is good for guys, but not much lower.

Less than 8%

Post by burntorange40 »

Thanks for the feedback. I question the concern that 3% is potentially unhealthy. There are a lot of guys that aren't necessarily body builders, and I'm by no means BB size, that have to carry that level of body fat to appear as ripped as they do. I'm not really into "size" any more, although I am somewhat. What I'm looking for is to model self after the sculpture "David", but slightly more muscular, and he had to be close to 3%. I'm in no way saying you are wrong, and clearly I need to invest some time in understanding the potential health issues that can arise, but since the lowest I have ever been was 11% before now and even at 210 LBS via a caliper test I was 12% earlier this year. After years of exercise I'm finally losing love handles, which is really goal. I'm afraid to adjust calorie intake before they are completely gone because I'm afraid if I stop now, I will never lose them. They are shrinking weekly which I never thought possible. I know increased protein intake will increase weight, but it might even produce more fat loss. I have relatively short legs and wear 31" pants with a 29" or 30" waist and I can't find pants to fit thighs and butt. butt has shrunk dramatically. It's a real pain in the to find pants that are 30 31 or 29 31. I have to go up to 32's because no one makes 31's and the 30's while completely fitting in the waist, don't give me butt and leg room. Any suggestions on where to shop would be great because I either have to wear pants that are way too big in the waist to give legs and butt the space they need, or they are simply too tight. I'd love to be able to by 31' 31', but unless I'm buying custom, which at this time is an impossibility, I have to find pants in the even numbers that work which isn't easy. Even finding 30' 32's is a hassle.

Thanks again for your feedback and I welcome you pointing out an article or personal experience that might share the risks and if you have any suggestions on where to shop for pants, I'd love that too.

Thanks,

Most guys cna look "ripped" at 8-10% bf. They don't go as low as 3%, excpet for BB comps and possibly other reasons like Pro Boxing fights.

Anyone with 3% bf long-term is risking their health. You need some Fat for insulation, and for spare energy stores, when you over exert sometimes, or have days when you maybe don't eat as much, or don't supply your full energy needs.

Thank you

I guess skin hasn't caught up with actual body fat content. I don't look what I would call ripped, and I don't use BB's as measure. I use Men's health cover models as measure. I have a question that maybe you can answer. I have lost a bunch of fat and waist is now a 30 or 31. What I'm wondering before I buy new clothes is, if abs continue to grow, would you suspect I should wait to buy new pants? I don't want to buy pants while I'm at 8% BF and then continue to gain ab dimensions and not be able to wear pants. I wear pants right below button so I doubt that would get any bigger, but I would like anyone's input.

Thanks,

BO40
