IS THIS POSSIBLE????

Post by Elena126 »

Hi Guys - i wanted to know if it was possible to lose 45 lbs in 80 days, with extreme excersise and a healthy diet - when i say healthy i mean 3 meals a day - and certainly not starving - but portion size, and lower calorie intake - extreme excersise is 1 - 1 1/2 hrs of cardio daily with strength training 4 days a week - any comments will be most helpful - thanks!!!

Nor am I an expert. However, I would say, in personal opinion, this would be very unhealthy for you. Is it possible? Anything is possible. The important question is, is it healthy? You must have realistic goals and this would not be one in eyes. Why the rush may I ask?

Please keep in mind that once you start losing weight, with proper nutrition and exercise program, you will be gaining muscle also. You cannot be a prisoner to the scale. Just because the numbers don't go dramatically down, does not mean your not making progress.

You also need to eat more than 3 times a day. 6 smaller well balanced including chicken breast, turkey, tuna, fish, fresh veggies, sweet potatoes and lot of water are always good choices. No alcohol or very limited amounts and by limited I mean one glass of wine if you want. Check out the "diet and nutrition" board on this site to guide you. Remember slow and steady wins the race. It is very unhealthy to lose massive amounts of weight in short periods of time and more than likely, you will gain it right back again if you only want a temporary . Healthy eating habits and exercise should be a part of your daily life. The rewards are priceless! Good luck to you and all your endeavors! :D

i would have to say that it depends on the current body fat....

if someone is extremely obese and needs to lose say 150 pounds...then when they start exercising from a sedentary life...the weight seems to just start to shed right off...and i would say 45 poounds in that time wouldn't be very hard...but someone who has been exercising a little bit..and isnt obese but maybe only needs to lose 50-60 pounds all together...45 will definitely be a little more challenging...but hey challenges are good right =)

Even if the person is reall overweight, it's not healthy ot lose that much in 80 days, even if it can be done.

Most you can lose is about 4lbs pure Fat a week, and that's dependant on you being highly obese, so you have the Fat to lose in the first place.

It's a case of 45lbs in 80 days, being possible in some circumstances, but not healthy in any circumstance.

15-20 at most should be the aim in 80 days.

it's more than 1/2 a pd a day for 3.5 - 4pds a week? couldn't and more importantly shouldn't be done or encouraged for that matter, challenge or not...say they do lose the wt then great, but what behaviours have they modified and/or chnged to sustain the loss?

Only if you want to make yourself sick. That is dangerous. Slow and steady. Something you can stick with for the rest of your life. Crash diets are just silly.

I agree. Fast weight loss usually ends with the weight coming back on...and then some.

45 is 80 days is bordering on unhealthy.
I really let myself go for about 18 months and wasnt doing much physical activity.
Once I really got motivated I lost 40 lbs in 3 months and that put on the mental and physical edge (more mental).
You are trying to loose 5 more pounds in roughly 10 less days. So its possible but your mind will probably crack first.

I lost weight by walking to work instead of driving (45 min each way) max out push ups and sit ups each day. Walk w/sprint 1-2 hours a few times a week. I decreased calorie intake to roughly 1,000 - 1,200 kcal a day.

Def make sure you take a multivitamin and rink LOTS of water and you will NEED 8 hours of sleep with all of this weight loss.

Also depends on how much you weight now. I was 260 lbs at 6'2.
