EATING ENOUGH???

Post by RK19 »

ive simply not got the money to eat chicken breasts, steak, fish etc 3 or 4 times a day so ive got to make do with what ive got so let me know if im eating enough to gain muscle. (i do weight training 4 days a week, mon, wed, fri, sat)

typical days diet

meal 1=breakfast= bannana, large bowl of porridge

meal 2= 2 chicken/turkey slice sandwiches with cheese (wholemeal bread), fruit

meal 3= 2 chicken/turkey slice with cheese or tuna and onion sandwiches, handfull of veg(brocoli, carrot),yogurt.

meal 4= 2 chicken/turkey slice sandwiches, handfull veg

meal 5=dinner= chicken breast,potatoes,veg

meal 6= toast (wholegrain bread) baked beans, piece of fruit

thats what i typically eat in a day ,on training days the only difference is a protein shake after workout. workout is between meals 4 and 5. is this enough? im 5"10 182lbs and want to stay at this weight or even bulk a little heavier any advice?

No expert, still learning and starting myself. I would say your off to a good start. I am still getting use to eating more. I would say you probably need more fats in your diet though. Fat isn't bad for you. How about adding some red meats? Eggs? Oils? More Fish? I make a combo meal of boiled ground beef and rice. It taste good and it is a decent mix of protein fat and carbs. I know what your saying about not wanting to spend a lot each month. I found that to be one of the challenges. Ground Beef at 85% Lean, 1/2 pound is only a few bucks at local grocery stores. Just have to come up with a good food items that you can afford that will give you what you need.

- lack of variety will make you deficient in many minerals and vitamins...not good obviously
- is meal 4 after training? if not it should be
- a handful of veg?? better make it 2 or 3
- last meal will more than likely have you building fat not muscle
- how about tuna tins? how about mince meat cooked upin a casselorle with a shit load of veggies in it?

I don't know if you have a Kroger near you? They usually have sales on frozen chicken breasts. If not, there are always natural peanut butters. Just reasearch a little bit and see what types of proteins you can find to fit your diet and budget! Good luck!
