Waterbury program + other questions

Post by Bigboi118 »

Im new to these boards so not sure if im in the right place, ive been working out for 1-2yrs without assistance and researching properly into everything, food, workout routine etc.

Ive always eaten good, drunk protien shakes etc and worked out 5-6 times a week, working different areas, I also play sports and go for runs. Ive got to the point where its like bangin head against a brick wall lol, ive got the dedication, but dont see the results i would like.

n e way Ive read some of the messages here and i see the waterbury program reccomended alot, Ive just looked it up and it looks like it might point me in the right direction. Question is, I workout at home (saves money) problem is i only have the following equipment

Barbell
Dumbbells
Bench (flat, Decline, Incline)
Excersise bike

B4 i go ahead and fork out for the book, can anyone tell me if I can follow it with the equipment i got to hand?

Try www.freetrainers.com. it will give you a routine using whatever you have available. Dont waste your time on the waterbury method, in opinion, its garbage

Again, you fail to explain yourself. It would be nice if you did explain yourself, as you're potentially slagging off something for no valid reason.

I personally neither endorse nor slag off such things, as I do own thing, and tend to think if such things work for some there's no issue, unless the individual who devises them starts making dubious statements about other training methods, and looking like they want to promote theirs too much, and that is then an issue with the individual not their methods.

whatever, i dont owe an expanation about opinion to nobody. All I said was try this site, cause I think it would help. If ya'll dont like that, than too bad. The comment wasnt directed to you about freetrainers, it was for the individual who wanted help or advice. I gave him advice, so if he wants to know more, he would ask

So basically you've never tried any Waterbury programs, it's just your opinion, right.

<<honestly admits to never trying rippetoe or waterbury methods but have read them and found them to be, in humble oppinion, very stable and rounded programs. I recommend them to all beginners and intermediates to try for themselves. Different programs work differently for each individual.

Finding programs that work for yourself that you can rotate through your training is part of the growth and experiences you should not deny yourselves. It is part of the foundations you must learn to make you better in this sport. A sport that is entirely based on personal bests and what works for you. Do not let someone dictate to you what is shit and good without proof or reason for their accusations.

I think ill just carry on trying to find what works best for me, ive been searching this site more and may upload workout routine into the other forum. I suppose at the end of the day i aint looking for a book to tell me what to do but rather know myself that what i am doing is working for me.

Thanks for the help tho

the WM isn't a book, it's a program on t-nation.com and a free one at that...you'd be mad not to try it

how do you know it won't help you if you don't try it???

I think he missed point about trying everything to find what works for him. If he try's programs set out by professionals perhaps he could learn a balance of how to group muscles, excercises, timing, sets/reps and not waste so much time doing wast of time programs and excercises.

You know, like one excercise on the back and then 3 on the biceps lol.

The program im following at the moment is

Monday - Legs (squats, calfs etc.) , Biceps

Tuesday - Chest , Triceps

Wednesday - Shoulders, Back

Thursday - Trapezius, Forearms

*Friday and Saturday pyramiding the weight as heavy as i can

Friday - Legs, Chest, Triceps

Saturday - Go for Sprint Runs on Sports track and Shoulder, Back , Biceps

Its a routine i got from this website and ive kind of adjusted it, performing 3 exercises per muscle group, and then change them each week to keep the muscles guessing.

i don't really like any of the programs this actual site advocates...muscle splits are pretty much useless for most of us on this board...ecspecially trap and forearm days...i've never had one of these in all life

waterbury method is good

Ok ive found a workout rouine on t-nation written by chad waterbury,
The 3 day-per-week full body workout, if i was to follow this and workout on monday, wednesday, friday, would it be ok to do sprints on the sat and sun? also does this sound like a good plan?
