Tracking cardio...distance and intesity?

Post by Hope4Life »

hey everyone...im new to the site so im still working to understand all of it. :) i was looking for mainly a tracking site to track cardio bc im training for a half marathon in jan of 2009. im walking it bc i cant run due to balance issues from a couple brain surgeries. anyways. i noticed there are speed intervals and you list your time but....why cant you track your distance so you can see how far you have gone over time and like get your averages? also intesity. i may walk/bike/ellipticals for ten minutes at a certain speed but i burn a lot more calories at higher or lower intesity. so calories burned is off bc i did it more vigorously. is there an option to track these two things with your cardio workouts? (distance and intesity) along with time of copurse :) also is there any way to create your own cardio info like you can do with importing new foods that arnt listed?

thanks in advanced for the help and replys! its greatly appreciated! LOVE the site otherwise! :)

you may need to track it yourself...most cardio equipment have distance, time and intensity (speed, revs per minute, strokes per minute etc) figures on them so as long as at least 1 of them is increasing each session you'll being doing more each time

thanks! i actualy have a fitness journal i made for myself to do exactly this. it also has a chart to track sets/reps and weight on the strength training machines. but with this site and loading all this info and nutrition, calories burned is off since i cant track intensity. im thinking i might just list longer time periods or harder cardio to make calories burned = what they do from the gym itself. i just wanted to be able to log better to see how well i do over time more easily. wasnt sure how to do it fully or if its possible to be able to track more info automatically so i dont have to calculate new times and distance every cardio session :) but thanks!

NOTED!! :) are the counters in the food section where you log nutrition at least correct? i know its off topic for cardio but we are talking about them :) i enter own food and there correct amounts myself so are those counters for a daily count of calories and all that at least correct?

I use a simple formula of distance/time, multiplied by calories consumed listed as a percentage. I have adjusted caluaction to represent 100% if I run 4+ miles in an hour and burn 1200 calories ( I have gotten to 1000 so far or 90.67%). By using this formula I can gauge how well I progress against myself or how effort compares at any given time.
