I feel like I am overeating.
Ok, I don't expect someone to find out caloric needs for me (as I know it differs with everyone) but if someone could look at what I ate today and tell me if you think I am eating too much i'd really appreciate it. I am one of those people who gets really paranoid about eating too much and im so scared that its preventing me from losing weight.
06-11-06:
B: special k with skim milk, tea
L: turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with lettuce, tomato and light mayo
D: turkey stir fry (lots of veggies!!), whole wheat roll with light margarine
Snacks: clementine, apple, special k bar, plum, trail mix (very little), 1 lf yogurt, fun size dairy milk (89 cal bar - oops).
So that is what I ate.. I also did 30 mins of hard cardio, some stretching and ab work at the gym (very rushed workout today).
Am I eating too much? Thanks again,

have meals not snacks..this isn't perfect but is basicaslly what i have everyday
1 - weetbix x 6, skim milk, sugar @ 6am
2 - apple, cooked minced meat (palm size) @ 8am
workout
3 - whey protein in water, rice bubbles, skim milk, sugar @ 10:30am
4 - roast beef, veg, roast spuds or a sandwitch @ 11:30am
5 - apricot chicken (palm size), veg @ 2:30pm
6 - 6" Meatball sub on wheat bread (with letuse, tomato, carrot) @ 6pm
7 - fish, yoghurt @ 8:30pm
i'm working 10hrs a day currently so meal 6 would usually be some sort of meat and veg when i'm not
notice how they are mostly evenly spread and portioned...that is what you should be loking at trying to do...obviuosly you won't go straight into it so gradually increase your food by adding 1/2 a meal every 2 - 3 days or something

So are you saying that I am eating too much or im not?
The snacks that I had were spread out throughout the day as well. I should have mentioned that.
Today looked like this:
B: special k with skim milk, tea
S: banana
L: toasted egg sandwich with cheese, tea
S: diet pepsi, grapes
D: turkey stir fry, whole wheat roll with pb
S: clementine, chamomile tea
I'm just so confused

i don't think your overeating but your choices could be better
- protein with EVERY meal is the number 1 factor as it is filling and has less chance of spilling over into fat than carbs and fats
the idea is to eat as much as you can but with as little cal's as you can...so basing your food on protein and veg will allow you to eat way more volume wise with little cal's than having cakes and soft drink all day...make sense? a calorie counting book would help
don't actually count the cal's, just be aware of what foods are better than others
any other questions just post, we'll get you there

The question of whether you are overeating or not depends on what your calorie needs are and that depends on many factors. As far as your choices are concerned, I would recommend more dairy products, fruit and vegetables, as well as complex carbohydrates which is the body's preferred source of energy. Tea contains tannin which decreases iron absorption, so tea between meals might be an option. You may want to consider consulting with a registered dietitian for a more comprehensive assessment.leahvictoria wrote:^Thanks for that info...

I think you should try a website where you can keep track of calories.I use fitday.com. Go have a look. It has several cool features that might help you.

Hi there,
I honestly doubt that you are overeating, though you are right that calorie level depends on a lot of factors about you. You are making some healthy choices. A little more lean protein would be a good idea.
How does the way you eat make you feel? Are you tired, cranky, low energy, hungry a lot? Or do you feel satisfied, normal and healthy?
Please let me know if I can help.
Sarah

So would eating meat (lean meat) be better than lentil and beans since lentils and beans gives more carbohydrate and calories?swanso5 wrote: the idea is to eat as much as you can but with as little cal's as you can...so basing your food on protein and veg will allow you to eat way more volume wise with little cal's
Both protein and carbs give 4 cals per gram, just be careful when u consume them.mm wrote:So would eating meat (lean meat) be better than lentil and beans since lentils and beans gives more carbohydrate and calories?swanso5 wrote: the idea is to eat as much as you can but with as little cal's as you can...so basing your food on protein and veg will allow you to eat way more volume wise with little cal's
true but also untrue, yes cals in vs. cals out is the main factor but u would get better results if u timed what u ate as well, e.g. carbs b4 and after training, high protein and fat late at night.sameey70 wrote:Don't worry about when you consume them, but how much you consume.
