Should i be taking protein shakes
ok so i used to be an athlete in high school(about a year ago) and weighed about 185 lb. But i tore the acl and had surgery and since then i have not stopped gaining weight. Im now at 220 lb. I just started working out seriously about 2 weeks ago and was wondering if i should be taking any kind of protein shakes to help shed unwanted fat? And if i should, then which ones would you recommend?

Wait muscle milk is a "weight-gainer" choose the cheapest whey with little carbs in (Maltodextrin/Dextrose).
If you are puting fat then we need to look at your diet and workout. Protein CAN'T make you fat.
For diet I suggest you to read the sticky in diet section.
And any proteins powder :
Post-Workout and If you need an overall increase in your daily proteins intake, at breaky.

Ahh but high GI Carbs, help increase Bloodsugar and Muscle Glycogen back up. a Powder with little to none doesn't.
As long as he doeses his powder conservatively, and doesn't use the over-exaggerated Big dude portions he'll be fine.
So if he should be taking say 4 scoops or 4 Tbspns for example, use 50-75%, of the amount. Again if it says 2 scoops, or 2 Tbspns use 1.
