dumb question for today

Post by Christopheel »

Is there a difference, talking about nutriment not taste for sure, between cooking our veggies (steamed) or eating them raw ? and too I ma really a cheapos so when I cook, I cook the whole thing. Is there at least some little good nutriment in the non-leafy parts of brocos ?

Thanks

Raw preserves more stuff like Carbs, as Cooking can reduce Carb content, and the same with Fats, they get partially reduced when you cook them.

Of course it depends on cooking time, method, I.E, Stirfry, Steamed, Microwaved etc etc.

Also it might depend on how they are treated from field to fork so to speak, I.E. Fresh or Frozen, as certain conditions create slightly better preservation and freshness outcomes.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about cooking your veggies, as long as you don't use a bad heat, or frazzle them almost to within an inch of their life, in a microwave.

Chris, here is an idea for broccoli stalks. Just peel them like a carrot to get rid of the outer skin, slice and use in a stir fry, or put them in your salad. They are actually quite tasty and I'd imagine full of good stuff for you too.

Yes, Broccoli contains things like Iron, Beta-Carotene, Magnesium, Zinc, possibly Copper as well, and almost certainly other good things too, if you like it, have it.

Well I already know that broccolis is certainly in the top 3 "best" veggies, but the question was more for the "unwanted" parts. Well today I have peeled the "three" part and it taste really good ! Believe it or not, but well, I don't want to waste what I buy so I eat it all
