don't do a lot of exercises to train "every" muscle but use exercises that use a lot of muscle at once

squats - quads, hams, core, lower back, glutes...depensding on stance and grip
deads - lower/ upper / mid back, core, hams, forarms...depending on stance and grip
rows - upper / mid back, forearms, bi's
chins - upper / mid back, bi's, forearms, rotator cuffs
benches - chest, delts, tri's

etc...

Full Body Routines 3 times per week is great for muscle gain. Dont get stuck in the 'more is better' mentality. Those who train smart see the best results

i'm gonna make it real simple hopefully.

if i was to do a chin up (palms facing me and hands about 6 - 8" apart) i would be lifting 70ish kgs...i will using multiple muscles such as lats, biceps and forearms...everybody knows that the more muscles you can stimulate through an exercise the better for muscle building it is...if i was to do a preacher curl i could probably use 30kgs maybe if i wad doing the strict and properly (which i do for every exercise)...with these i am only using biceps and some forearms and no lats...now as lats are probably the 2nd or 3rd biggest muscle in the body, i'm using substanrially less muscle, let along about 30 - 40kgs less wt...how preacher curls could possibly build more muscle than chins is beyond me

answer? wait untill you build appreciable mass with the basic exercises before adding any single joint exercises in (curls, pushdowns, flies etc)
