I'm female, 30 years old, 5' 7'' and 104lbs. I know I should weight more and I know this "problem" will not get me much sympathy in a world where interest in weight loss dominates. I want to gain weight and I have been trying on and off for a while now with no success.
A factor is that I have an allergy to milk (any product contain any form of milk protein) which I developed within the past couple of years. I would like to get back to at least 120 lbs.
I eat lots of rice, pasta and chicken while trying hardest to stay away from junk food. I know the junk food route would help me to gain weight but I would get unhealthy in the process. I'm pretty healthy now. Besides the milk allergy I have no major problems. I can't complain but if I do get sick I can't afford to be this thin already. Well that's what grandmother always told me.
Any advice for someone trying to gain weight in a healthy manner while avoiding ALL milk (that includes milk proteins in processed foods)?

- you want to gain "clean" wt though so stick with clean foods, not junk food
- more so than place an actual wt figure on it, just go on how you feel and look...you may get to 110 and be very happy with how you look...what sort of body structure do you have? if you're naturally thin than you might not be able to put on a lot of wt
- clean bulking foods include chicken, salmon, metabolic drive, tilapia, cod, tuna, lean beef, broc, spinach, carrots, cottage cheese, walnuts, almonds, natural peanut butter, olive oil, fibre one cerial, brown rice, white rice, yams, spuds, whole wheat pasta, black beans, chick peas, kidney beans, lentils

Thanks swanso5. I am naturally thin (and always shapely)but i've been heavier. I think i was at ideal weight at 120 about 3 years ago. Since then the weight has been dropping off slowly. Maybe it's just part of getting older but the last time i was this light was in high school.
I will try what you suggested. I like to cook so that helps.
