Possibly so, but Yolks Contain LDL, (Low Density Lipid), which will help to accumulate Fat deposits in the Heart.
Fact is elite Coaches training elite people, may say such things, (I'm thinking), because an elite athletes Heart would be able to respond better to mild increases in Fat deposits in the Heart.
Fact is Whole Eggs have more Protein, but the Fat Soluble Vitamins are possible from other sources, the Carotenoids Lutein, (and Zeaxanthin, which I forgot until I re-checked recently) are found in other sources.
Indeed things like Corn, Kale and Spinach or sources of Lutein, and most good Multivits are too, so you'll be fine for abotu 1/2 a Multivit a day if you take one, and need a boost in anything you feel you're not getting enough of.
1 Yolk will give you about 1mg Lutein, approx 1/4 max daily need, though it's not technically a need, unlike Essential Aminos, Carotenoids are not produced internally, but can be beneffitted from, but in reality they are not an essential requirement, though they have protecitve benefits from things like Skin aging, eye damage, (to name two), and can convert to things like Vit A, but the body can do fine without them, as Carotenoids play no serious part in things like protection of Internal Organs, Brain functions, etc etc, (to knowledge), that some Aminos do, so the body doesn't need them to facilitate, or better trigger or carry out, essential physical functions required for life.
So the more LDL you consume, that's the overweight, slim and unfit, mildly fit, people with Heart abnormalities, etc etc, not potentially someone who is superfit, the more the LDL could long-term impact, because it isn't good for you, but then superfit people trained by world reknowned people, may, (as I eluded), cope better with mild fatty increases in their Heart.
I personally say 1 Yolk a day, as I feel it's better for the majority.
Also as stated recently, (not to criticise here), Swanso also commented on Poliquins rebuff of Planks, and said in effect, maybe they're beyond the elite, but for mere mortals, or those at least one step below the elites, Planks are one of the best Core blasters going, so I, (bossman), advise when reading about elite trainers, they are great people, with deserved reps, but don't always think because they say certain things it applies to the majority, as they work with the best, who's bodies are highly conditioned, and may respond a little differently to certain things, than most peoples would.
Plus even elite trainers can't be 100% right all the time, and neither can humble folks like myself, Swanso, or anyone for that matter.
I just feel for the possible risk to Heart health, many whole Eggs aren't necessary, they provide nothing you can't get in other food sources, and in the case of some constituents, can benefit from but don't absolutely need.

this from Poliquin:
Whole Eggs vs. Egg Whites
Only dorks eat egg whites. A guy training naturally needs whole eggs. What about the reported health concerns? Well, the studies that showed eating eggs raised cholesterol were done by the cereal board. And back then they didn't differentiate between the types of cholesterol, so the studies were invalid. Eggs can raise cholesterol — HDL, the good cholesterol. If you're going to have them, don't be a pansy.

If they contain Omega 3 possibly, and a lot may not, it'ss usually stated if they do. Plus it doesn't refer to things like Omega Eggs, or only Freerange, not Battery etc etc, a bit like saying Tartrazine in Orange Squash, can make kids hyperactive, (ahh the good old 1980's), doesn't mean they all would, if they could, and I'm not 100% certain if that old doozy, was blasted out of the water in the 90's or not.swanso5 wrote:this from Poliquin:

This makes no sense. No he doesn't, even ones with Omega 3. Omega Fats are found elsewhere, Lutein and Zeaxanthin are found elsewhere, Protein and Fat Soluable vitamins are elsewhere. he seems to be making out that whole Eggs are as vital as essential Amino Acids, or HDL Cholesterol, and they're not.

LDL Cholesterol is prevalent in a lot of Eggs, and is bad, in Omega 3 Eggs, there is still some, though less than the good Fat, but about 30-40% of the Fat makeup.
The fact still remains though, many Eggs contain LDL Cholesterol, the bad stuff, and even if a lot of Eggs have unsaturates too, you could get those from Oils, Avocados, and Peanuts for example, so no need to ingest amounts of LDL cholesterol anyway, from more than 1 yolk a day.
