Weaker on one side

Post by Showman1 »

Hi guys,

I'm having a few problems, where the left side of chest and left arm are weaker than the right.

Like a year ago I used to curl 25 lbs. on each arm. But then I stopped working out for a year and then I started again and went straight away to 25 lbs, I barely completed reps on both arms. But for the next couple of days I could barely straighten left arm. Then about a week later when I tried to work out again, I grabbed the 25 lbs. weights. With right arm, I could complete sets, but with left arm, I could BARELY do one rep.

Now problem is that I can curl 25 lbs. on right arm, 12 reps. And with left arm, I can barely finish 12 reps with a 20 lbs. weight. And this affects me when I'm doing the bench press and pec-flye too as left side tires out too quickly, before I've fatigued right side.

What should I do to correct this problem?

Don't do alternating curls.

i would go the opposite...stick with db work strictly for upper body only doing for strong side what you can do for the weak side sets, reps, wt used the whole lot until it catches up

I agree with this. Lower the weight you are using on your right hand side until your left hand side catches up.
