any help for those that don't cook?

Post by analyticalmind »

well I'm 23, 6'1 and 160lbs, and when i tell people i need to loose body fat they just laugh lol. i'm skinny but stomach is nowhere near flat but i'm pretty good at sucking it in throughout the day =P Anyways, I tend to eat a lot of fast foods because 1) i don't like to cook and 2) trying to fit in 5 or more meals into day is not realistic. I work 6am-2:30pm 5 days a week and have school also one of those days from 6pm-9pm. adjusting to being up that early is difficult because I don't like going to bed early, this is like the first time since I was in high school. So I normally skip breakfast unless I have an extra 5mins to get to jack n the box before work...I'm sure I could work on that but breakfast would probably just be a protein shake at most, and then during lunch break it's either things like a salad and bowl of chili (dunno if that counts as healthy or not) from Wendy's or I could go to Subway (30min lunch and that takes longer so i usually don't go there). Basically I'm wondering how many meals is it ok to replace with a protein shake, and also are there any frozen dinner brands, like lean cuisine, that are ok to have? costco sells these snack bags of sliced apples that i love so that's one snack i wouldn't mind having everyday but it's difficult to find good things to eat with the time i have and cooking chicken and salmon all the time got old quick. any ideas would be appreciated!

Stuff you don't have to cook:
cottage cheese
yogurt
most vegatables
fruit
nuts and nut butters
tuna in the can
salad (OK you might have to chop)
Stuff that's so simple to cook, it's not really cooking:
eggs
ww toast
ww pasta
LF and low sodium soups, there's more....
I hate cooking, but I do it, I hate squats, but I do them. Eating well is a habit and habits take some time to cement themselves. If you really want something, you will find a way. I wouldn't replace more than one meal a day with a shake. Real food is what your body needs for success. If you want to give it a honest try, search "Recipes with Pictures" at T-Nation. Remember there are people out there with way less time on their hands, and they are not super humans yet manage to prepare healthy meals for themselves and families. Prepare and plan your food for the week, then you won't have to stop at the drive-thru.
